  1. Based on the information, it looks very feasible to rent out HDB in Singapore and go live in Sapporo or Fukuoka apartment that cost ~1000/month. Use the rental difference for living expenses. The next question will be how to get a visa for long term stay. 🤔

  2. Well, it is nice to finally see this, this is one of the ultimate goals for many foreigners however you seem to go into a brand new or newer house? Not buying old detached house and renovate which a lot of foreigners do. This is totally up to you and your wife's financial situation and also individual opinion. Happy house hunting. Hope you two find best

  3. I think Osaka apartment could be a good investment considering the future development plan. Getting an apartment there and rent out sounds tempting. But not sure about how much for maintenance/tax etc. Anyone here had done this sort of investment before?

  4. i heard another 'scam' when buying properties (especially akiya) in Japan is that the real estate agents will tell you how certain things need to be 'renovated'. and then you get ripped off for the high costs for a seemingly minor piece of work like a replacing some tatami floor panels. yikes!

  5. My hubby said that if you buy a house in Japan, the value will just go downhill from there. That's the difference between buying a property in Singapore vs Japan. I guess that makes the difference on buying to stay or for investment. Most people buying homes in Singapore believe that the value will appreciate overtime.

  6. Ghib, thanks for this video. It's really an eye-opener as a Singaporean on the property prices and housing conditions in Japan. I wouldn't have thought that the most expensive house/apartment that you've shown us is so affordable. I mean, you can consider buying one and rent it out as a side income.

Your wife's reactions are very cute!

  7. 東大阪 and even 生駒市 or 奈良市 are really cheap, quiet, and convenient places to live if you plan on working in Osaka! source: I'm a 奈良県民

  8. Thanks for this great content! Ghib may I give you some feedback? The orangutan 🦧 shots when your wife is talking are very annoying-to the point where I nearly tuned out. It’s fine if she doesn’t want to be on camera but keep the flow going 😅

  9. Hi Ghib! Love your content. But can you please invest in another microphone for your guests or a boom microphone? Other than that, rock on bruv.

  10. Many people only mentioned that Japan properties are cheap compared to Singapore but do they also know that in Japan there are nature disasters like Earthquakes that can instantly destroy your house? If you can stomach this risk, there are many other hurdles to cross, such as the language barrier, no financing from their local banks, rental income tax etc. Yes, it's cheaper to get a property there because of the weakening Yen, but that will also mean the rent you collect in Yen will diminish when you convert back to SGD.
The only valid reason I can think of getting a house in Japan is that you married a Japanese and want to move back with your spouse, or you plan to work and eventually retire there. I personally detest this idea of investing in foreign properties. Why go and fight for properties with the Japanese people which will inevitably raise the real estate prices there and deprive the locals from having their own homes? Aren't you seen enough of foreigners (I shan't mention the nationalities) swarming SG real estates and depriving especially our young people a new home to set up their families?
Japan is undeniably a beautiful country, but get a home there only if you truly love the country, it's culture and people just like Ghib Ojisan is doing here in SG. Don't treat Japan like another Money Tree.

  11. I am singaporean and my japanese husband and i are thinking of getting a house in tokyo kitasenju area. Its kinda like the punggol of tokyo. Insightful video, i should start my search from suumo

  12. Nice vid 😀 Maybe ur next vid topic could be about the train system in Japan? ^^

  13. Your video is so timely. Thanks! We are thinking of getting a house in Japan. Can I ask your opinion of getting an apartment or house in Okinawa?

  14. Good stuff.. Next time, try having the monkey sit on your wifey's side near the computer, n hv the comp screen on the right side of the video 🤭
