Kamikochi, sometimes also known as the “Little Yosemite”. This scenic valley is at an altitude of 1,500 m above sea level and surrounded by high mountains of the Northern Japan Alps in Nagano Prefecture, Japan.

The views of mountains and river are absolutely breathtaking that it was appointed as a Special Natural Monument and a Special Place of Scenic Beauty. It is only one of the two places that hold both titles at once together with Kurobe Gorge. Endless photo opportunities await. If you an outdoor person, Kamikochi has some very nice camping sites with access to many peaks: Mt. Hotaka (3,190 m), Mt. Yake (2,455 m), Mt. Yari (3,180 m), Mt. Jonen (2,857) and more. Definitely worth visiting.
