We had a traditional Ainu lunch at Lake Akan Ainu Kotan (阿寒湖アイヌコタン), a lakeside village of the indigenous Ainu people (in Hokkaido) which consists mainly of one street lined by souvenir shops specializing in Ainu handicrafts as well as a museum and the “Ikor” theater where various traditional Ainu performances are staged. Poronno serves a variety of food and beverage offerings, including Ainu dishes. However, to get the full experience, you need to purchase a meal ticket from the reception window inside the Ikor Theater; the set course is not served otherwise. Our lunch meal consisted of:
