Rock climbing Arco? If you want some insider tips about Arco near the Garda Lake (Lago di Garda) in Italy? Then watch this sport climbing video on single pitch sport climbing crags and areas, multipitch climbing routes, camping places, gear shops and restaurants to visit. Arco is one of the best climbing spots in Europe!

And if you want this video to the end, there will be a real Arco secret waiting for you!

But check out this rock climbing video regarding Arco and get a few sneak peaks about the super-classic, Zanzara, and several other multipitch rock climbing routes like La Cengia Rossa, Pantarei and Caldo Inverno on Monte Colodri and Parete San Paolu just beneath Monte Colt.

There is so much passion about rock climbing in Arco near the Garda Lake. Everything about Arco just relates to rock climbing and sport climbing. They even got themed cafés like the La Sportiva Café, and most of the local restaurants are decorated with pictures of rock climbers.

Arco is situated just 10 kilometers north of the Garda Lake (Lago di Garda). So when resting between visiting the many sport climbing crags or climbing the one of the amazing multipitch rock climbing routes, you should definitely take a swim in the Garda Lake (Lago di Garda)!

Arco is also the battleground for several climbing world cup competitions at the Arco Rockmaster Stadium. Here you can actually pay a small fee and try to see how far you can get on climbing competition routes that pro climbers like Jessica Pilz or Adam Ondra! And speaking of pro climbers, Arco is where local hero Stefano Ghisolfi does his daily training!

You should definitely check out Stefano Ghisolfi Instagram profile for some pretty awesome photos from the area.

I have been to Arco several times and I usually stay in the Camping Zoo in the outskirts of the town. Camping Zoo is cheap, there is plenty of space and it is close to Arco and to the crags

Before climbing you should pick up the latest guidebooks at the Cazzaniga Giovanno. He has the complete selection of guidebooks guidebooks for Arco and the nearby area.

There are maybe 10 different climbing shops from the Salewa and La Sportiva flagship stores to the Red Point shops and Gobbi Sports, which are cross-brand stores. Prices are low and they have good bargains on especially climbing ropes and clothing.

Just opposite of Camping Zoo there is a really nice multipitch crag called Parete San Paolo with quite a few multi-pitch sport routes around grade 5 and 6.

There is also Monte Colodri with the classical Zanzara (7a+) and several other hard multi-pitches like Festival (7c) and Guru Bassi (7c+/8a).

But there is also a pretty easy via ferrata on Monte Colodri.

Arco features some of the best sport climbing I have ever tried and the amount of sport climbing areas are just countless. Belvedere, Nago, Massone, Piccola Dallas, Regina del Lago and La Gola. The amount of good quality limestone rock is just stunning.

And one of the best things about Arco is that you can climb here from March to November! I would stay away in the midsummer months as it will simply be too warm.

But some of the more popular sport climbing crags like Belvedere can be a bit polished.

On a rest day you can hike the area, take a swin in the Garda Lake (Lago di Garda) or do one of the many via ferratas – like Via Ferrate Monte Colodri

When done climbing you should sneak back into Arco for dinner. I would recommend Pizzeria Restaurant Pace with its wide range of good Italian pizza.

Or you could explore the small old alleys and streets.

And oh yeah, the Arco secret! You should rent a boat off the coast of Riva del Garda, then you can actually go deep water soloing!

  3. this was great! thanks for the tips. im heading to Arco in July and looking for as much info as i can find climbing wise 🙂

  4. All the old classic routes at the Monte Colodri like Sommadossi and White Crack, except the Via Zanzara are too polished to climb. They really are like glass. I have climbed there in the 80's and again 2015 when I realized that sad situation.

  5. Hi, I am going to Arco in a week. I found this video super helpful! I am so keen for the arco secret 🙊 but probably will have to come back later in the year for it 😉 I am wondering if you have any crag recommendations for beginners?
