Hey you guys! Thanks for joining me on another journey. This is the last episode from my Le Boat cruise experience with Eric & Jen in Ottawa, Canada on the Rideau Canal system. We docked the boat at Chaffey’s Locks the night before. I took a quiet, pretty walk down a dirt road that morning to explore the little town. One travel tip for you is to make sure you bring lots of bug repellent. The mosquitoes were like none I’ve ever seen before, and I am from Florida! Another travel tip is make sure to stock up on more groceries than you think you’ll need. You don’t know when coming into these small towns if they will have a restaurant or grocery store open, so that way you are prepared for the week on your Le Boat cruise. It has been a very relaxing & fun week for us. It was neat to stumble upon so many old payphones in these quaint towns along the canal system. I bet some kids out there don’t even know what a payphone is! They must have so many around those parts because we hardly had cell service. But it was a nice reprieve from modern technology. Chaffey’s Locks has hotels and cabins and access to much wilderness if you want to go and stay there. We crossed paths with another Le Boat. They were heading to Perth, so l gave them some pointers to make sure they arrived. Then we went to Newboro. It’s a tiny town, but it was an enjoyable visit. We saw something that looked like a muskrat swimming in the river. It was cool to be able to see so much wildlife that week. We stopped at Rideau Ferry for Jimmy’s Snack Shack, which had been recommended to us by Ian, our lock master. We got a whole lot of food for the money. Definitely check it out! We decided to come back to Westport to spend the night. It’s one of the bigger towns along the Rideau. I went on a walk to Spy Rock for the sunset. And guess what crossed my path?!? A beaver! It was so awesome!! We went back to the Country Cove Inn for their amazing lamb burgers. Also observed Canadian karaoke while at the inn. After we got back to Smiths Falls, we rented a car to go to Kingston, Ontario. I got to check out the closing ceremonies at Fort Henry; it was a thrill to be so close to a cannon! Downtown Kingston by the waterfront is a fun place to walk around and check out the shops, restaurants and bars. It’s cool how they have the old blended with the new. Thanks for watching my video all the way to the end!
