Saimin is Hawaii’s favorite noodle dish and is something we recommend everyone to try. Even McDonald’s used to sell saimin until just a few years ago! Today’s we’re trying Shige’s Saimin Stand, which was recommended to us by many of our Hawaii viewers. To end the meal, we stop by Sunny Side for their famous pies.

So happy that he liked the apple pie 😊❣
Great video missed you guys
Ahhh My family is from Hawai'i and I lived like 3 blocks from Shiges. I could have walked there. Still sad we moved to the mainland recently. Maybe one day I'll get to go back😢 Also a huge fan of Mililani restaurant, another seemingly hole in the wall that owns. Edit, Mililani Restaurant has a suberb mac salad, eat that L&L!
Itaikimasu
Great vid, just wish I had seen it b4 I went to o'ahu
Oh I want to have the saimin so badly! I just have to go there.
I lived in Wahiawa for two years loved the local food. Saimin is unique to Hawaii. You can get a basic one at McDonald's too.
Simple Saimin (broth!) LOL!
Saimin !!!!!
Looks delicious, I have a Colmans mustard thing with saimin. I will even bring my own if it isn't on the menu.
I haven't been to Shige's yet. I love saimin. It makes me feel better when I don't feel well. When I was young, the broth was made with bonito.
Sunnyside has good pies. Peach pear pie is my favorite.
The Saimin with barbecue and/or burgers looks SO GOOD! 🤤 Feels like a hearty meal, but even when you're done with it, you want seconds, because it's both comforting and fun. Thank you for showing the mustard and shoyu sauce combination to add to the broth and noodles. 😊 And DYIINGGGGG! DYINGGGGGGG OVER HOW GOOD THE PIES LOOK! 🤩 Jealous and hungry over here!
If it comes on a paper plate, no matter where, its gonna be goood
Mmmm, saimin! I never ate at Shige's (I'd moved to the mainland before they opened), but I'll definitely eat there if I ever get back to Oahu. The saimin/burger combo was intriguing. The loco moco looked rich and tasty. And, all the pies at Sunnyside looked 'ono! Thanks to Tom Yoshida for introducing you to Shige's and Sunnyside!
いつも楽しく拝見してます😊またシンガポールや台湾などジーンちゃん達が出てくれるのを楽しみにしていますー。
Aw this was lovely guys! Great looking foods mmm!
Everything looks great! I do think the burger can benefit more from melted cheese.
For me the bbq burger and the rice and gravy looked soooo god
Yay! Happy you guys got to go to Shiges🍜🤤
I mean "Established in 1990, so it isn't too, too old." 😅 I'm not sure how to process that, being a decade plus older 😂!
Yes my favorite Saimin in the world!
We always go to Shiro's, but Sunnyside us definitely the bomb! The banana pie is our favorite 😊
Shige’s, broke da mouth local grinds. Happy you and Satoshi enjoyed the ono food.
that place looks amazing. i love that there's no showy or trendy decor. that's how you know you're about to eat some amazing food.
It's Hawaii style soup & sand!
That UMAIIIIII… Makes me wanna try!
should change the title of this video…shiges is not in Honolulu lol
Forgot to add that Palace Saimin across the Kapalama Post Office is another old time place, the best in downtown. Their bbq sticks are delicious with wun tun min. Simple menu, no burgers or plate lunches.
We’ve been eating cheeseburgers and saimin for decades going back over 50 years at places like Washington Saimin and Like Like Drive In, both closed now.
Yes, yes!
Omgoodness, we miss Japan!
Can we visit you in Japan?
I agree! It's THE best in Oahu.
Oh my goodness! Every single thing that you boys ate looked amazing! Hiiii brother Tom! I love that you found the best saimin at a tiny hole in the wall restaurant. Whenever I make Loco Moco for my hubby, it’s always with a dark brown beefy gravy. In fact, that’s probably what we’ll be having for dinner tomorrow night. Thanks for sharing!
Are you in Honolulu? Yeah- gotta have hamburger with your saimin!
my favorite place thanks tom yoshida for taking them there
The way Satoshi is with cinnamon is how I am with garlic and anything cherry flavored. But I love cinnamon.
this is where my grandma grew up 💖 I wish we could go to these places together!
🔥🔥🔥🔥
The noodles looks like Okinawa soba
You guys made me hungry 😁👍🏼🎉
Hello TabiEats ! I have a question for you ! You have so many fans out there from so many countrys all over the world ! Wouldn't it be cool if your fans could send you short videos from there hometowns and there favorite restaurants dishes and you both do react to it ? I think that would be very nice for us all , what do you think ?!
Michelin needs to check this place out. If a street stall in Thailand can achieve a star, there’s no reason why this incredible place can’t. Just sayin’… the word of mouth about this place is AMAZING.
Shige’s is our family favorite! An island institution!
Great video but you need to change the title! Shige’s is nowhere near Honolulu. It’s in Wahiawa! I drove down there today to get me my Shige’s fix.
美味しそう!Won ton min is my very favorite, and I also mix the mustard, broth and shoyu…love it! Thank you very much❣️
Can't beat Watarai Saimin
I used to be a flight attendant and every time we have a layover in Honolulu, I always look forward to having saimin🥢🍜😋
How does it compare to Sekiyas across Kaimuki High School?
Shige's sprouted from Nakai's in Haleiwa….a long time ago….Used to bring the pot from home and Nakai's would fill it with saimin. The hamburger sandwich used to be served on a regular pieces of white bread…not buns….but Shige's have retained the flavor of Nakais and it is OH SO GOOD!
Thinking Shiges still make their own noodles still….
Shige's is awesome. I grew up with Shiro's Saimin. Thanks for the video. Aloha
