Russell, You said: "essentially it's a hypermarket, but they call it a supermarket".
No, they do call it a hypermarket. When you entered that store, you showed a sign in Russian overhead that reads "гипермаркет Алма" – that is hypermarket in Russian.
By the way, as you must have noticed, most signs in this city are in Russian, and most residents speak Russian – even there are a lot of Bishkek Kyrgyz residents who speak Russian only, as their native language, not to mention a huge number of ethnic Russians there
I have to try those LAYS!
Russell, it's hard to compare Moscow with Bishkek because Moscow is much-much bigger. It's on a completely different level. As the largest city in Europe, Moscow's population is actually three times bigger than all of Kyrghyzstan. So Moscow is a much bigger market for this kind of hypermarkets, malls etc.
And interestingly, there're so many Kyrghyz immigrants and labor migrants in Russia and in Moscow that Moscow alone has more ethnic Kyrghyz than Bishkek, their capital city.
And those Kyrghyz migrants brought their culture, traditions and cuisine to Moscow, so you can actually easily find those traditional Central Asian lepyoshka (flat bread), kumys (horse milk) etc everywhere in Moscow, including Moscow supermarkets that are well stocked with flat bread, kumys, Ayran salty milk drink, Tan milk drink etc.) There's an abundancy of that stuff in Moscow, as well as numerous Kyrghyz eateries
Hello, soda displays are like that because the companies pay for the premium shelf space. The same is done in American stores. However, if you want say, 7-up, they're tucked away on the bottom shelf, in the back. On rice, Asian stores here have barrels of rice, maybe like 8 to 10 barrels.
Tan is like ayran. Before packaged sweet yogurt became the ubiquitous standard in the later part of the 1960s, salty Trinkyogurt was common in Germany and so was horse meat.
Russel – I’m in the USA. We do have what we call the BULK section. In there you will usually find several types of RICES as well as flours, oats, nuts, candies, trail mixes & even spices.
Now you know where Russia's sanctioned goods come from and why Jack Daniels costs $45 a bottle.
We used to put smoked horsemeat in thin slices on the sandwishes before here in sweden but I think it ceased nowadays . Actually in the 19th century and before that all horses were buried outside the villages by the hangman ! I was because they were considered soulless creatures . You were not supposed to eat them , people rather starved !! Nowadays they are sent down to southern europe to be dealt with when they've died . The video was cool , as usual . I would like to be able to pack my own rice , it would be nice ! We do it with potatoes so why not !! People there must have cravings for coke ! I have never seen so much coke in my whole life ! Also here in sweden a lot of local fissy drinks has dissapeared but we still have our "must" that we drink on christmas and easter which taste different from coke but look the same ! I dont mind seeing Gleb in future videos ! Seem to be a nice guy !
very nice
The Fanta is yellow-orange? Real orange juice? 10:20
Notice a lot of horses on farms in Russian videos, and I don't think they're riding them. When I looked up, horse meet is considered secondary meta, or for unique occasions. I know this video isn't in Russia.
Russell, I see your prejudice towards horse meat, but I will tell you that it is not only used in Central Asian sausages. In the recipes of some of the most expensive varieties of raw smoked sausages, there is always a certain amount of horse meat (as well as cognac, by the way). And of course, these are not horses from the hippodrome, there are special meat breeds with a special regime of keeping and feeding.
Мы в России столько аналогов колы сделали, что импортная вообще не нужна. Надеюсь, что Кыргызстан придет когда-нибудь к тому же
9:43 washing gel from my region 😁 – Lower Silesia
У нас в пятёрочке тоже есть тан, айран.
Horse meat is yummy! They are using not old hard working horses for beshbarmak but young specially fed young foals
We eat horse meat in Sweden. You can find horse meat in any store.
Unfortunately, your companion gives incorrect information about fermented milk products: Tan and Ayran have been produced in Russia for many years. Many people use these drinks as part of a traditional Russian summer cold soup called okroshka.
Horse meat is gross, reminds me of goat meat. You eat it and it keeps turning in your stomach for hours after.
Love seeing the super markets! No horse meat for me.
For such a large market, see a lot of people just walking around, but few if any with a shopping cart buying anything in quantity. Very strange!
What's the name of that shopping center?
Horse meat is popular in many nations. France and Japan import horse meat from Canada. In Japan's case they import the horses alive to Japan, which has the animal rights people quite upset.
Очень стройно всё уложено на полках, местами как будто по цвету выставляли. Красиво.
10:40 very interesting Lays! looks delicious, maybe i can visit Kyrgyzstan for taste😆👍
No horse meat for me!
Mmm the salty sour milk😆😆😆I've not drunk milk since primary school when it was warm in little bottles. Add salty and sour to the mix sounds a bit of a nightmare😃😃 such an interesting supermarket and so immaculate. Great that your friend joined you.
Gleb? Id date a guy named Gleb cuz thats a darn cool name. 😊
Always enjoy the Supermarket videos, To see different things and to compare prices. I live in the States and never seen one of those Rice options with scoop. I how ever have seen one but with Variety of Olives and same concept
Yes we want to see Gleb in more videos 🎉
we used to eat horse roulades in Germany. but those horsie chips you can keep.
I've eaten horse steak back home in Croatia and it was delicious. Same as with various tongues, brains and offal.
0.02 ,,ГИПЕРМАРКЕТ" 😸
Доллар 100 , дно пробито.
I don’t think I could ever eat horse. I would have to be starving first.
Gleb did good 💞
I want to visit now I've seen this video and I'm surprised they let you film in the shop due to security
💕👍
I'm good without the Horse. I'm good without most meat and cheese. You should try going without a little Russell.
