  1. Well. That’s the upper management of Disney. Soulless, corrupt, corporate lack of imagination—— oh and cheaper. In other words. Evergreen.

  2. Jock Lindsey's is awesome and glad they have "updated" it. We still go in for a drink to pay homage to Babylonia in her new home and remember the old Adventurer's Club.

  3. Go Disney. ❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉 Happy 4th July. Keep the governor of Florida out of Disney. 💙💙💙💙💙🌈🌈🌈🌈🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️ Disney is awesome. Love everything about Disney rides food and drinks buy items. So on. Love Mickey mouse and Minnie mouse and company. ❤️😎👍

  4. This is the guy who got upset the snowgees (sp?) and Anna and Elsa were in the same place in a water park, which "was not canon". 😂

  5. Very sad about 20,000 Leagues. Another reason the Disney Parks are going down the tubes. Animatronics that immerse people into the story are what makes people prefer Magic Kingdom/Disney parks. As they keep taking those out and replacing them with screens, they will not be able to command the ticket prices they do. (If I wanted screens, I’d go to Universal for a third of the price.)

  6. It's hilarious to see Povenmire on Rise of the Resistance and calling his college “friend” to fix the ride! 😂😂😂
    What a great moment!

  7. I’m going to Disneyland Paris for the first time in January. I was super excited that a Nautilus walkthrough existed, especially with the animatronics and sound design. Worried that the closure was permanent, I then found out that it would reopen soon, with the exciting prospect of a 2 year refurb!

Oh dear. What an absolute shame. 2 years just to strip away all the parts that make an attraction special.

  8. Hey Tom can you all look Into the claim that a version of splash mountain is to be built at universal studios islands adventure? I know it sounds like a stupid question but it seems to be something going around on the internet. The claim is that Disney sold the rights of the ride to universal.

  9. 1st, of course corporate disney wants to "mediate" and Iger all of a sudden is "open" to meeting. They know they're going to lose if it goes to court, plus they're in so much financial trouble they are looking for any way to get out of this to save themselves money and more bad publicity.
2nd Harmonious wasn't a "bad" show as much as it was disappointing to be called a 50th anniversary show AND it almost felt like it belonged in another country as almost half of the show wasn't in ENGLISH!
Yep, add items from a failed Indiana movie. Then make a new show that's woke at DCA! An overweight Widow and a black Hulk? With all the talent that's in the Hollywood area you'd think they could do better.
Corporate disney will do whatever to destroy Walt's legacy and spirit. They HATE Walt! The evidence is all around and they show it in everything they do. The weak or absent "theming" and "story". The hard push for IP with no original ideas. The attempt to always remove anything that Walt had his hand in or created. Of course they had to remove the actual movie from the park, it was one of Walt's favorite projects, one he was very proud of his WED guys making that squid and all of the other leaps in production they did.
The characters of Splash Mountain are able to be used for OLC because they paid for the license. Also, Song of the South is STILL SOLD in Japan. As it is in EVERY other country except the U.S.!

  10. I wish that Epcot had put in that bridge over the lagoon like they had plans to.

  11. You speak with such eloquence about this thing that we all love. Thanks Tom. Gotta book a trip overseas i guess!

  12. In reality how many people now days remember 20,000 leagues under the sea or any other iconic things from the past. They are trying to be current and loosing us who do remember.

  13. I'm just sad, heartbroken and disappointed, Space Mountain got wrecked twice, Le Visionarium gone, now the Nautilus. I have no words. Discoveryland, one of the most unique lands was absolutely devasted.

  14. Just back from DLRP. Who would have thought that Hyperspace Mountain would be my second favourite version of DLRP’s Space Mountain? Oh but let’s make up for it by creating a highly themed ride queue for Flight Force and put tiny screens in the main ride that you can’t see because your head is bouncing all over the place!!!!

  15. That thumbnail combining both Rise of the Resistance and the removed squid from the Nautilus is inspired. Underrated!

  16. While we’re at it, can I complain that they replaced Horizons with Mission Space? Horizons was a beloved attraction, but I don’t EVER hear anyone talk about wanting to go on Mission Space.

  17. So sad that they'd ruin the Nautilus like that. Why replace an impressive animatronic with a boring screen? Why remove Cpt Nemo from his own sub? They keep making such terrible decisions…

  18. So the incoherent Nautilus is keeping the incoherent space mountain company as its neighbour attraction now. The steam punk theming with star wars theming clashes massively.

  19. Maybe it's just me, but the replacement of the squid is just the latest in current management not seeming to want to push anything from Walt's time. It's like if it was before Eisner, it didn't happen. Just look at the 8 movies they're re-releasing to theaters for the 100th anniversary of the company. Not one is from Walt's era. And then it seems they're like "Nobody today even knows 20,000 Leagues." Well, yeah, kids today won't if your last release of it was a Disney Movie Club exclusive Blu Ray. The only exception to this is Mickey and the gang. But even there, they push the current animated versions of them over their classic look.

  20. Absolutely agree with you Tom. They’ve taken all the Disney “feel” away. It started at World Of Disney. Very sad to say the least. I am doubtful the Disney “feel” will ever return. Now, it’s just like shopping here in Michigan. BORING!

  21. New store looks like a flagship H&M. If Disney keeps removing themes people are going to go elsewhere that’s less expensive. Let’s call it what it is, not giving the creatives the opportunity to be creative.

  22. Splash Mountain demolished for racial justice

Les Mystères destroyed for environmental justice

Beloved movie franchises trashed for social justice

This is what Democrats voted for, and now they're getting it good and hard.

  23. The Harmonious set up was bad looking during the day, but it was a fantastic effect during the nights show. Can you imagine what that kind of technology could have updated Illuminations. They could have made water damns and poured concrete bases and had the Tacos raise and lower using Hydraulics lifts like World of Color In California. This way the show effects and technology could have been saved!

  24. I hope EPCOT'S new fireworks totally blow and people hate it… Because maybe third time's the charm and we'll finally get another show with an original score and no Disney movie music. 🤷‍♂️

  25. i was disappointed in the fact they shortened the ride removed a lot of the animatronics etc is it worth riding today no it’s not.

  26. If they wanted more guests to visit the Nautilus, they could have made the entrance more noticeable. I went in 2009, not knowing a darn thing about anything involving the park, and walked around this thing like 5 times trying to figure out how to enter, if it was a ride, or walkthrough, or what. Ended up leaving. I guess being a sub, the hatch door can’t be open, but being a foreigner, I use queues like opened door means enter. Then again, in Paris, open doors also mean closed apparently, so who who the heck knows. 🤷🏻‍♀️

  27. Disney is making weird decisions and even weirder changes…combined with the lack of speed or lack urgency to get things done (Swiss Family Treehouse – DLR) and taking away all the fun and spontaneity of visiting the parks…it’s really sad

  28. This really sucks. It’s so unnecessary to replace it. I get it, an animatronic is expensive to maintain, but the final product is breathtaking. It is such a shame they did this. I’ve never been to Disneyland Paris, so obviously I have never experienced this attraction. But, from everything I have seen, this animatronic was incredible. It is such a shame. I am so sad I will never get to see it. I am growing up in the Chapek era, so I have never known “Disney in its prime”. The best theme park experience I have ever had has been Galactic Starcruiser, but when I found out everything used to be up to the standards of Starcruiser, I was in disbelief. I am so sad that I have not gotten to grow up with these incredible experiences. Thank you Tom and the rest of WDWNT for showing me just how great Disney used to be.

  29. I loved Disneyland Paris and I love Jules Verne. Last time I went to France in 2013, we had both DLP and Verne's home and grave in Amiens on our itinerary. My first trip was in 2008 and I regret that even that was after Le Visionarium and Space Mountain: From the Earth to the Moon were already gone. At least there was still Mysteries of the Nautilus and Space Mountain: Mission 2… But I guess I'm not allowed to have nice things. Strangely I don't intrinsically mind the more nature themes, since that is a subtext to the book (it's mainly an ocean travelogue). But it IS baffling to get rid of any kind of squid attack in the name of "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" or whatever, as though the squids will get offended. Just… wow… in a bad way. That's already after they butchered Space Mountain and Pirates of the Caribbean… Just turn the castle into Princess and the Frog already and get it over with.

  30. 30 mins is a bit long for me and that's even with watching at 1.5x speed, I know it's the first video of the new combined format but that's my initial thoughts.

  31. The Rogers The Musical hot dog has me thinking about making my own hot dogs with vegan hot dogs and everything bagels like I used to make
