Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Cost of Living
Puerto Vallarta is a great place for expats, retirees and location independent nomads to live. There are city amenities, shopping opportunities and Nature lovers will find an abundance of riches, from lush tropical forests to wide sandy beaches. Travel and Leisure magazine named it “the friendliest city in the world.”

So how much does it cost to live in Puerto Vallarta? For less than $1,000 per month, it’s possible to live in a nice area within walking distance of the beach. $1,400 per month is comfortable. Most nomads and expats I know live within this range. For $2,000+ per month and you can live very well. In this video, I’ll break down these budgets in more detail and give you specific examples… I will talk with people living in each one of these price ranges and will tour apartments in these price ranges as well.

  1. I spent about 3 months in PV in the winter of 2018. Had a nice, very affordable apartment with a great view in Old Town about 5 to 10 minutes walk from the beach. The weather was nice, and the tequila and wine were cheap enough. However, I found PV to be too much of a tourist zoo. So it's not really on my list of places to visit again.

  2. You have to apply to live there??? I can't just drive down an start living there?? No government aid…hmmm

  3. Any suggestions on where to find a nice rental as we are in Mexico and having no luck…definitely no $600-800, or even $1000CDN nice rentals as seen on YouTube!!!

  4. A Bedroom for $500 dollars a month Hilarious 🤣….. Guys go to Phuket a two Bedroom pool side villa with coffee shop and Beach just across the street with Breakfast and Lunch is $214 dollars a month…. And loads of cheap places to eat and drink , A beer is 60 cents and coffee is $1.20 … Just last night i had 4 beers and steak Fillet with rice and veg and Cream Caramel cost me $9.12 …

  5. Good info, thank you. A minor correction on the price of the fish. $6.50 for 2.2 lbs, not half.

  6. I am just seeing this. I was in PV in January 2023 and I loved it. I would love to go back soon. I found the people to be so genuine and the food, omg. I love Olga's apartment, $500??? What a bargain.

  7. This would probably be one of the places my wish list for early retirement. Till then, I will just have to drive every summer from Phoenix AZ to Puerto Peniasco resorts to enjoy warm waters and a beach, jump some waves on a jets ski, and awesome seafood.

  8. I am a retiree and interested in residency. How difficult is it? How long is the process. I love Mexico, the warm weather, the friendly people. Great community

  9. is that 500 per month or 500 per week?
    Or 500 per day?

    be specific please.

  10. nix
nice video was thinking of retiring in panama when i turn 62 this year on ssi. It seems like 1600 a month i get could be enough.

  11. Yes I'd love to know all the requirements to live in Mexico!!!
Thanks for asking . I'm on SSI so I believe that goes against me but I sure would love to try. I'd be willing to leave overnight to be able to stay there with a temp visa. Please please can you give me the lowdown???
Thanks so much. Oh also, I have Medicare, will I be able to keep it if I was to move to Mexico?
    THANK YOU !!!

  12. I have been anxiously anticipating retirement while considering Mexico. But after watching this, things aren't quite as cheap as I thought. With $10 dinners, $1 per mile taxis, $1000 apartments….unless there are cheaper places in Mexico, I better stick to Philippines.

  13. Hello please let me know Canada citizens will come to Mexico how long can I stay there thank you so much 🙏🌺🌹🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
