Air Greenland – A330 800neo – Business Class – Kangerlussuaq (SFJ) to Copenhagen (CPH) | TRIP REPORT



I recently flew on Air Greenland’s newest aircraft to experience its “Premium” cabin with snowy landscapes and friendly Danish hospitality.

Air Greenland is owned by the Greenlandic government, but realistically it’s a heavily Danish-influenced airline with mostly European executives. The airline has played a pivotal role in connecting the vast and unpredictable landscapes of Greenland for decades as the autonomous territory of Denmark has no roads outside of town limits. Aviation serves as a lifeline for remote communities, especially those without access to harbors. SAS and a Danish mining company founded the airline as Grønlandsfly in 1960.

The A330-800neo has been a slow seller as only 7 have been built so far. But the shortened widebody fits Air Greenland’s future plans to connect the capital city Nuuk’s short-runway and Copenhagen while being stuffed with cargo. It replaced the airline’s previous jet (an old A330-200 nicknamed Norsaq). Passenger comfort was decreased in the new high-density jet, and the quality in Premium class also decreased poorly. I was disappointed in the undercooked food, lack of hot towels, and reduced personal touch (even though prices were increased 2x).

    Pink chicken does not always mean undercooked, depending on preparation. Best thing to do in that situation is to confirm that the internal temperature was checked with an appropriate meat thermometer.

    When the airport was used as a stop between Kastrup and Winnipeg and LAX, it was called Søndre Strømfjord, hence the three letter code.

    What a wonderful viddy. I find it very interesting and though that Neo isn't as fab as the -200, it's still really cool to watch. You mentioned the price diff for Business to economy, I'd have EASILY spent the extra 189 bones! It looks like a huge improvement. Very interested in Greenland, what a unique country.
