This video shows some photos along the way, Jan 22 to 26, of my getting to Okinawa. Last night, I told “M & J” that I’ll just BURA-BURA the whole day, Jan 27, in Naha and meet them the next day. OK, so, I start with a 6:30 a.m. free, healthy breakfast at the Toyoko Inn in the newish area called Omoromachi. Then I started my BURA-BURA day at 9:30 a.m. Jumped on the mono-rail (called the YUI-RAIL) which is elevated just like what’s happening for the building of the Oahu rail! I got off at the ASATO station. I walking around that neighborhood under the rail and got a feel of what we on Oahu going feel like when we walk along under OUR own elevated rail! Kekekekeke I stopped by the Yogi Park. According to some Google site, in Japan, cherry blossoms bloom first in Okinawa around end of January to early February and then start blooming going up north. So after Okinawa, Kyushu blooms around March, then Tokyo a little later and then Hokkaido gets the last cherry blossoms. There were a whole set of cherry blossom trees in Yogi Park along a little stream but they only had small buds. AU-WE! I was just a little too early for Yogi Park blooms. Then I continued my BURA-BURA in and out of some side streets but didn’t find anything to show y’all. Eventually I ended up at the shopping warren around Kokusai Dori. Found a place like the owl café in Akihabara. I’ve seen enough owls in Akihabara so I didn’t venture into this place. They had one cute owl outside to lure people in so I took some free pictures.
I had Okinawan Soba / Negi Toro Don combo for lunch. Wow, big mistake – too much food! BUT, Onolicious! Too bad I had to leave plenty food behind on the table. I already got some peanut gallery comments about the foods I’m getting on this trip but not to worry. I dropped down 22 pounds before this trip just so I could start my 2017 travels on a good note. I was shooting for a good 25-pound weight loss but missed it by 3 pounds. Well, I got some work to do when I get back home and see if I can still make the 25-pound loss mark! Kekekeke Wow, talk about food. More BURA-BURA and I find this place called Kokusai Street Food Village. Everything is nice and new but what a misleading name because it is off the main drag of Kokusai Dori. You won’t notice it from Kokusai Dori and I just happened to find it due to a detour I made while walking around. Nice set of eating stalls and that place is probably crowded during pau-hana time. It wasn’t feeding time when I “discovered” this place so the place was empty. I took a break and caught the Yui Rail back to the hotel. AND, guess what, it is dinner time already! I think I’ll just skip dinner today!
