Today we visited the Shiraoi museum of the Ainu people- indigenous people of northern Japan. We got a glimps of some if the Ainu’s performance Arts, including folk songs, dances and special music instruments. We even got to learn how to play on one of their traditional music instruments- the Mukkuri. After eating some traditional Ainu food and exploring the museum, we went to relax in an onsen in Noboribatsu, a famous hot springs resort. For some it was the first time experiencing Japanese hot springs and they fell in love with in an instant, vowing to try it again as soon as they can. It was raining while we enjoyed the outside bath, and the combination of cool weather and hot water was exceptional!
