White Sands is a national park like no other. Rising from the heart of the Tularosa Basin is one of the world’s great natural wonders: the glistening white sands of New Mexico. Riding around pure white dunes under the blue sky was a phenomenal experience.

In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don’t know my final destination or the duration of this journey.

Throughout my journey, I’m raising money for a young disabled child in Poland named Franek. Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life.     Hi Kinga, the areas you are travelling through are my favourite in the US. New Mexico has so many places, you must see. Lots of ancient First Nation sites. Albuquerque is busy. Santa Fe is interesting. I've spent many trips in the Four Corners States they will blow your mind. Enjoy them all.

    Damn Kinga, you snuck into my back yard. I live in Alamogordo. The sands are in my backyard. Wish I'd known you were going through, could of had a barbecue & beer for you. I've got ability to do oil change and tires if you needed. Even a place to camp with hot showers 🚿. Oh well so sorry for not seeing you here. Maybe next time on your way back. Are we there yet 😂

    60 miles from the first Atomic Bomb explosion. Find any shocked quartz ? Replace your rims, tires, compressor & windshield. Like Yesterday already.

    Somewhere around White Sands is where they developed and built the Atomic Bomb that in World War II fell in Hiroshima Japan, the area that I live in up in Washington State is where they build the second atomic bomb that at the same time dropped on Nagasaki Japan. I was jokingly thinking that you should run a Geiger counter over those close you were making snow angels in.😀

    Loved the warm-up exercises. I thought it was to prepare you for climbing the dune, so I laughed out loud when you fell back and made the sand angel.

    tires loosing air slowly,,,, check to see if valve core is tight,,, make a soapy solution and brush it around your rims and the valve and you will find where the leak is. 🙂

    Watched the video then gave myself an education on gypsum sand. Have used it for decades in my construction business but never took the time to learn anything about it till this morning! Thanks for sharing. 🇨🇦

    The things I remember about visiting White Sands: (1) yes it was very white and very bright; (2) all that reflected light accelerated my natural tendency to sunburn and added to the heat (it was over 110 when I was there). It was an amazing sight, but truthfully I had better memories of the wonderful food at restaurants there. My Dad is from that area, so checked out the sites and eats. Keep having fun on your trek across the US ! Lots of different things to see and experience.

    Two remarks:
    1: always use tubes when you go ofroad into the unknown. They are safer.
    2: when you ride in very dusty environments, tape your locks so they cant fill up with dust.
