Travel off the beaten path to Oirase Gorge in Northern Japan (Tohoku region).
A treasure spot for beautiful waterfalls in Japan.
Whether it is spring, summer, autumn or winter, Oirase stream is all round year hidden gems of Japan.
The gorge stretches from Nenokuchi on Lake Towada to Yakiyama a total distance of 14 km (8.6 miles). Expansive woods blended with numerous waterfalls and the georgeous & graceful water current gives life to the magnificent mountain stream all along the way. Hiking in spring and the season of autumn foliage is simply exceptional.

👉 My itinerary:

I walked for 11 kms approx.

10:30 am – Started from Ishigedo

1:00 pm – Ended at Choshi Otaki Waterfall.

1:30 pm – Took the JR bus from Choshi Otaki to Nenokuchi bus stop.

3:00 pm – After having lunch at a local restaurant, went for the boat ride at Lake Towada.
