تقع قرية تفنيت على منحدر صخري جنوب مدينة أكادير (45 كلم). يشتهر هذا الخليج بنشاط الصيد، وقواربه الزرقاء، والبيوت الواقعة في الكهوف، ناهيك عن القرية ومنشآتها الأساسية.
متلك قرية تفنيت واحدا من أهدأ الشواطئ في المنطقة ولعلها في أنظار الكثيرين مرادف للسباحة وركوب الأمواج والمشي وصيد الأسماك وسوق السمك. لكن ينبغي عليكم التحلي بالحذر من الأمواج، حيث تكون في بعض الأحيان عاتية.
جاء تأسيس مدينة تزنيت المغربية سنة 1882 عقب حركات السلطان المولى الحسن الأول بمناطق سوس. وقد كان الغرض من ذلك درء أي توغل للأوروبيين
تأسست المدينة حول نقطة ماء (العين الزرقاء) على ضفاف وادي جد موسمي (واد توخسين) موقع المدينة متميز في وسط المغرب، لا تفصلها إلا تسعون كيلومترا عن أكبر قطب حضري بالوسط الجنوبي للمملكة (أكادير)، كما تقع على الطريق الرئيسة رقم 30. مما أهلها لأن تصبح محطة مهمة، وصلة وصل بين شمال المغرب وجنوبه.
وكانت المدينة عاصمة للمغرب أثناء حكم المرابطين والموحدين، ويرجع اسم مراكش إلى الكلمة الأمازيغية أمور ناكوش، تنطق بالأمازيغية أموراكش، وتعني بلاد الله حيث يستعمل الأمازيغ كلمة تامورت أو أمور التي تعني البلاد أو الأرض
