The Hakone Tozan Railway is a mountain railway that connects Odawara City in Kanagawa Prefecture to Hakone Town. It is a mountainous route with an elevation difference of 527 meters, and the trains operate from Hakone-Yumoto Station to Gora Station in approximately 55 minutes. Every year, from mid-June to mid-July, about 7,000 hydrangea flowers bloom along the railway. During this period, the Hakone Tozan trains are affectionately known as the “Hydrangea Train.” The view from the train window offers an expansive sight of the blooming hydrangeas along the route, and hydrangeas are also planted around the stations, allowing visitors to enjoy the beautiful flowers while taking a stroll.
箱根登山鉄道は、神奈川県小田原市と箱根町を結ぶ山岳鉄道です。 標高差527mの山岳路線で、箱根湯本駅から強羅駅までは約55分で運行されます。 毎年6月中旬から7月中旬にかけて沿線には約7,000本のあじさいが咲き誇ります。この時期の箱根登山電車は「あじさい電車」の愛称で親しまれています。 車窓からは沿線に咲き誇るあじさいが広がり、駅周辺にはアジサイも植えられており、散策しながら美しい花を楽しむことができます。

Such lovely hydrangeas! I am thinking of planting some in my garden but not sure if they will do well in the Texas heat. I especially love the lilac-colored ones. Thank you for sharing this relaxing interlude. 😊
