Sanzenin Temple, Ohara Kyoto in 4K – 三千院 京都 – Japan As It Truly Is

Sanzenin Temple is one of hidden gems of Kyoto and shows you can still see a magnificent place without the huge tourist mobs.

Sanzenin (or Sanzen-in, 三千院) is one of the few remaining places that is still one of Kyoto’s very best sights, yet has few crowds of tourists stampeding through. In part because it is not that well publicized, but also because it is in Ohara, which is about an hours by bus from Kyoto Station. Aside from its historic religious treasures, it has a beautiful garden that is simply astonishing.

Going in the morning by bus is HIGHLY recommended instead of afternoons since many elderly are getting off at every single stop along the way, and it will greatly increase your travel time.

Open 8:30-5:30 daily Mar-Dec 7
9:00-5:00 daily Dec 8-Feb
