Hi stefan
actually bourget is more about a trade fair than an air show, the most important part are the days for professionals.
I did the show in 1967, as an RAF Corporal, after being chopped from OASC Biggin Hill on the first day ( of 3). Instead of going back to my base in Valley, I decided to finish the time by hitching to Paris. When I eventually went into work on the following Monday, my Sqdn Ldr asked how I'd got on at OASC and I explained. He laughed and said I had made a fine decision. Most enjoyable with my fractured Franglais.
Thanks for this. Yes you having an amazing trip. I have really no desire to go to the Paris Airshow as it is not my interest. I love EAA Oshkosh which I have been to 20+ times. I do plan to go to Friedstien next year as general aviation is my love. However good on you for sharing your experience with us mere mortals.
You can access closer to the runway all the way on the East side but you need to book a 30€ Tribune ticket. But yeah I agree 100% it’s only good for statics and only during Professionnal days where you can access all the static airplanes freely. Also Boeing leave during Public days, they are only here for business … If you are invited by a big company you can access their Chalet which have terraces facing the runway with a bar, air con and seats.
To see closer air demos you need to go to a smaller air show but you won’t see all the big airliners.
I attended this at the start of the week for the trade days for my first time. I also found it very strange not to have some sort of seating for the air displays! I guess the best way to experience it is from the chalets. I found the whole show structure a bit off compared to Avalon.
G,day Stefan from Sydney.
Those European airshows and sports plane conventions really highlight design innovation.
* Composite materials
* "The big names" in avionics
* The use of titanium in high stress components, not to mention increasing the purchase price.
* Variable pitch props

Hello, thx for the vid. You can get mich closer to the planes in tribunes but you have to pay an extra of approximately 10 bucks. But you have to book it really on advance. Also to explain Paris airshow is primarily a trade fair.
I was the same than you !
A bientôt en France !
0:42 wait did covid shut the world down in 1919, too?!
Awhh man i was supposed to go but actually couldn’t because i had to do planifications for my morning to Sydney now that you are there i actually regret not going. Ur literally my favorite YouTuber of al times lol. Keep up the good work
Nice video stef! 🙂 excited for 747 tour vid…..also you should check out the pacific air show happening at the gold coast in August, it's quite new..pretty sure Gold coast will be their 2nd airshow.
You can’t get near the Avalon runway unless you pay big bucks for a private seat or stand at the far end of the runway 🤷🏻♂️
Hey Steph, thanks for covering the Air show for those of us at home.
Absolutely agree with you on the B1. I was at the same Avalon Air show at about the age of 16 and although the weather was typical of Melbourne, the full afterburner take off and low pass was by far the most extreme and breath taking experience, nothing has ever come close!
I know hat you mean about the B1B Lancer. I went to Avalon in 2001 and the main thing I remember from the Lancer display was the NOISE! My god that thing is loud.
PS: EYZ needs missiles!
As far as I remember Le Bourget Air Show has always been that way. Nice to see you've been there ! 🙂
Airshows these says are more about sales, back in the 80's I was able to actually touch a Merlin engine along with a U2 also a Mig 21.If you can find a high advantage point outside of the show, you'll be much better off.Its now very expensive and look don't touch and very crowded………………………………..
Hey mate,Show us the stand of Turkish Aerospace, I hear they have new toys on display ,Cheers from Melbourne !!
Its an Air (trade) show, not an Air Display. Its all about making deals.
Seems a bit stupid to keep people so far away from the runways and to have buildings obstructing the view. That alone would stop me from going to that airshow. Good video though,
Jerry
I think Paris and Farnborough have always been geared towards the commercial side of aviation and not us avgeeks 😊
Long time ago, there was a section part the temporary chalets (right of 52/53 on the map you have shown) were you had access to the grass section closer to the runway. You had a very nice view on the runway and flying aircrafts… but in the 2000's the show went very professionnal and business oriented, and weekdays were reserved for people working in the industry. Weekend days were open to the public. To save costs, the compagnies that were displaying there aircraft were all leaving on the friday (last businness day) making the weekend show almost irrelevant… and you can still kind of see it here, that show is not realy made sor the general public any more… sadly…
Go to a US airshow, particularly one outside one of the big cities. They are certainly still marketed for the people with fantastic access to the flight line and all about the aerial displays.
I’ll never forget that B1-B display at Avalon a few years back. Easily my most favourite displays at Avalon of all time. That heatwave that went through the crowd as it was fully lit taking off is something ill never forget!
I knew you where there😅 i think i saw you
As a kid we used to always attend the airshow at CFB Trenton, Ontario Canada. At the time, the largest airshow in Canada. And we also suffered from the same issue, the air display viewing was done from the same area as the static displays. Would be nice to see the ground portion of the flight displays.
Wow what an intro! I thought I was watching a Casey Neistat vlog. I have never been to the Paris Air Show, but sadly it does look a bit industry focused. You are better off going to a small show to get closer. Who knows, maybe you could organize an airshow at Moorabbin.
It was very warm that friday but was an great experience and one i would not forget!😁 i was waiting for this video after I’v seen you walk by but did not interrupt you case you where recording but great video!
Stefan theres nothing wrong with a valid complaint. It is infact shit the entire viewing experience is blocked for (you nailed it) "Saftey" WOOO SAFE IS FUN! WOOO!!! If I hear another cashier tell me to "stay safe!" im going to scream.
Come to airventure Oshkosh!
I basically grew up at the Paris airshow. And the chalet have always been there as well as the very business/defense focus.
But the chalet were taking a lot less space in the 90's and it was possible to get really close the grass next to the runway. I saw many amazing very low level (i.e. a few meters of the ground) demos from Harrier jets at that air show.
And the Space museum is always the best place to cool down because a) air con b) rockets!
Sadly, it's not quite like what we have here in the states, with Sun n Fun and Oshkosh AirVenture where you can watch with no obstructions.
I don't think covid started in 1919.
"Human population continues to multiply, among other things you guys will need more jobs, what's your solution to that?"
"we…uh….are working very hard on needlessly automating everything so more and more people lose their jobs!"
"Wooooow! What an incredibly barely conscious creature."
In the future automated companies will go bankrupt because their clients are unemployed. Simples as that.
You definitely need to come to Airventure!!!
Always wanted to visit the Paris Air Show
Heya Stef ! Me and my girlfriend attended the airshow over the week-end, we actually were jut beside the B1 while you were filming, wished I got to see you and come say hi !
Regarding the seating and getting closer to the airplanes, there was a bit of a hidden place, on the other side of the big hamger near the B1, sorry you didn't see that 🙁
Anyways, maybe next time, keep up the great videos 😉
I think Aviation engineering should focus more in supersonic aircraft rather than electric fuel efficiency. It’s been a while since the concorde left the skies ! Also no pilot aircraft wouldn’t be safe in places like Indonesia were terrain and weather is critical.
If the airshow was a little edgy and clever they would have a mockup UFO. Classic discus shaped metallic finish. Maybe even make it hover. Title it the future of aviation. Just as a conversation piece. That way they look sage when the truth might very soon come out.
China made airplanes COMAC 919 will benefit passengers and cause booming business for COMAC. Cheaper plane means cheaper fares for passengers, more people will be able to afford to fly. USA and EU refused to issue certificate for this plane. What an unfair business act as EU and USA have issued certification fot FLYING COFFIN Boeing 737 MAX!!!
China should NOT buy Boeing and Airbus plane any more or may cancel the existing order.
Hi Stef! Regarding your observation, there was an actual area next to the runway opened on Saturday and Sunday, with grandstands etc
It’s a shame it wasn’t opened the whole week
Paris airshow has always been more about trade than it was about an actual airshow. It is a business event, similar to dubai air show. Farnborough and RIAT are more up close.
Looked like a great show Stef! I'm very jealous!!
Ok, i go there for 15 years now, and this year, was the first time I couldn't for private reasons.
Last time was in 2019, and at that moment, it was already like this. Previously, around the gate 53 shown on your map, you had a location where you could sit on the grass part, or on a tribune dedicated to public.
the Paris Air Show has always been a trade fare, but switched to an air show and company presence day, starting on Friday, where you would get every big company showing what they do, and having nice aerobatics as well (less Rafale flights, and more P51 lightning !)
Going back on the topic of getting closer : Le Bourget is part of Aéroport de Paris, with its very very strict safety rules (terrorism, vandalism…). This is making everything complicated.
If you have to do 1 or 2 air shows in France, do "la ferté alais", and then "Les Mureaux".
By the way the way, when are you leaving France ? Any chances to try to do a meet up or something equivalent? Would be pleased to show you LFPZ a bit around ! ^^
Ah shoot! missed you by a few days, we went on Tuesday ^^ and even though we went ourselves watching your experience was cool!
All the best from Switzerland 🇨🇭
That's a decent museum there. They also have a pair of Concordes that you can walk through. It appears that they acquired one of the A380 prototypes some years ago but I can't see any info about being able to go inside it.
This air show just like the Dubai show is for commercial and trade, the public opening is just for show and not really the point. Oshkosh and other air shows that are less commercial vendors and more demonstrations are the ones you want.
