I remember these apartments. Quite comfy, but when the neighbour farts, it is like he is in the same room. You hear just everything.
Thanks!
Its like an old school building look to me. Might be me. Im from UK.
Have those people heard of paint? Shame on them.
better such an apartment than your own tent or trailer in LA or Fila
The building is falling apart. According to you, that’s TYPICAL. Not your best video tbh.
Nice trees outside, something I love.I really like the treed parking lots. They are sub standard by western standards in some ways but all in all, I bet they were quite nice when made. They seem cosy, as you just said as I watch. Having a bathing room and then a toilet room is common in Japan as well. As a 1 bedroom apartment, it is little bigger then my 1 bedroom in Canada BUT it looks like their rooms are more narrow then in the west. Which makes them look smaller at 1st glance. It has more counter space in their kitchen, then in my place for sure. Also in Canada my kitchen merges with my living room and the washroom is one room, where as they have 2 rooms. So my place has less walls, which also makes Russia rooms look smaller but actually for space, it seems bigger then my place. In Canada my place would be rented for $1-2k per month, depending on the location. Would be interesting to know the price there or is it owned by the tenants? You my have mentioned that in the video, if so I missed it.
Damn that is depressing as hell people are still living in such primitive housing. The whole place looks like a cobbled mess. That putins house ?
Hi Russell. Great video. Wish you hit 100k, subscribers end of summer.
That cooker on the counter is called an instapot
I am understanding that these are multi unit rentals buildings rather than owned 'condos' structures, so when you began by showing how variable and inconsistent changes to window materials in the same building were (for example), I wonder if those changes were made by the building owners as needed, OR by the tenants at their own expense as wanted?
I also see, courtesy of your videos, that both the older, cheaper more traditional buildings and the newer, more modern, presumably more expensive ones all seem totally uninterested in the aesthetics of any of the common areas (entry/lobby, stairwells/elevators, and/or shared hallways).
Granted, where I am in Canada our building may be a little more freshly painted and carpeted, but other than a cheap 2nd hand sofa, a flimsy 2nd hand coffee table, a rescued/found potted plant, and a wall mirror in our lobby, there is no furniture, art, plants or decorations in any other common areas as allegedly they will invariably be stolen.
Based upon the fact that Russian people frequently seem to leave their bikes & strollers outside their units (sometimes not even on the same floor as their apartments) however, indicates that they have no such security concerns, so is it just cost saving by the building owners that prevents any redecorating/brightening/updating of those common areas?
I grew up in an apartment/unit like that. The whole precinct was made of them. Very uniform, with good infrastructure, public transport, schools, shops, sport fields, children and youth clubs, bicycle park, lots of green spaces. I had a lot of freedom, I didn't need my parents to drive anywhere, it was safe, pathways everywhere with safe pedestrian crossings, lots of activities after school and easy to visit friends. The good side was also heating provided by the city with hot water to radiators in each room making the whole apartment very warm during the winter. When I moved to Australia I was stuck in a suburb, cold house, unable to heat all rooms due to very high electricity costs. A car was a necessity, not walkable at all, no paths, nothing around, everything fenced off. Psychologically for children very isolating and unsafe.
Keep " bringing " Russian reality to the world Russell you are doing a great job smashing western propaganda! These flats are very similar to the govt flats built in new zealand 50s & 60s ( petone , Wellington)still in use today , the kiwi flats aren't as big .
At least the Russian government makes sure everyone has housing.
Know one keeps the up keep of them they would look much nicer if they kept them painted
Thankyou its very interesting
That was interesting!
Thanks, Russell! I enjoyed this apartment tour and its backstory😊
The first Russian apartment that has everything I would want. Very nice layout, is it for sale and what would an apartment like this rent for Russell?
Much nicer inside the apartment, than the rather dismal outside. Thank you for the tour.
Fine job.
Yes , I would live in that typical Soviet apartment .
The type of building might be typical. But the building itself is NOT. It will be leveled soon. R u serious???
