The wild horses of Yonaguni, Okinawa, Japan

The remote island of Yonaguni is a wild place. Battered by typhoons and harsh weather its coastlines are dramatic and beautiful. Known mainly for diving and it’s unusual underwater formations, the island is also home to many wild horses.

The wild horses on Yonaguni island are quite small in stature, not much bigger then a pony, they are very friendly and calm. often found grazing on the grass that lines the tops of cliffs.
