  1. Not in the MDR but I can recommend the chocolate cake in room service. I never could find it anywhere else in the ship! It is fantastic and free! Room service chocolate cake for the sun!! I was on the Regal Princess June 01-13 in the British Isles.

  2. I agree about the dining. Very nice experience, but meats and not enough butter, you are correct. I wish theyโ€™d have better โ€œnormalโ€ food. It seems like they serve something that youโ€™ve never eaten. Anyway, go home and go to your neighborhood restaurant and I bet you donโ€™t get the service like when on the cruise. The restaurants onboard are very good.

  3. Thank you so very much for another very informative video. We were on the Ruby last October and hated the dine my way. We went to 5:00 dinner and the dining room was so very noisy. Food was not fabulous, fine dining, but I didn't have to cook… We found the buffet to be much better than we expected and we went there to avoid the noise. I really wish they would go back to TD. We will be on the Enchanted Princess, leaving from Barcelona 9/30.

  4. Food is indeed subjective, but it is also relative. Perhaps the quality of food is best expressed in terms of comparison with other cruise lines at a broadly similar period of time. Over the last 6 months we have sailed with Princess, Celebrity, Holland America and Azamara. Obviously Azamara is a more expensive experience so we would expect the food to be better, as indeed it was. We can't split Celebrity and Holland America in terms of which is our second and third favourite, they were both very good. Princess, although a pronounced step down, was still very good. But as you point out Alison, this is subjective.

  5. We are going on a cruisetour starting in Anchorage on Sunday. We were advised that we will be going from Copper River to Valdez and the catamaran will take us to Whittier where we will board the Majestic Princess

  6. Just so you are aware – only Amtrack runs passenger trains between Seattle and Vancouver and the train is only at 7:50 AM and 7 PM going to Vancouver, 6:35 AM and 5:45 PM going to Seattle – all the rest of the times are by bus.

  7. A catamaran between Whittier and Valdez would be amazing, a more intimate on-the-water journey, as long as the weather cooperates. My sister and her hubby took the ferry between the two several years ago and said it was magical, the best day they had ever spent on the water – the scenery of Prince William Sound and they saw whales (orca, humpback, and Minke), eagles (bald and golden), seals, and other marine life and birds – the ferry took about 6 hours to cross the about 80 miles between the two ports.

  8. I just got off the Grand Princess on Saturday feeling very sick for the last 4 days of my cruise. I was unfortunately diagnosed with Covid on Sunday. I had been extremely cautious with hand washing and disinfecting. I don't know what else I could have done? All 4 of my family who were on the trip got it too.๐Ÿ˜ฎ

  9. we have never found the steaks in the MDR worth wasting calories on, but we will book the Crown twice on a 14 day cruise………1'st ribeye & filet, veal chops 2'nd time thru…..the Bouyu steak house on the Carib isn't much……the BBQ venue (now gone) was better……..food is subjective and everyone has different tastes……….

  10. I just checked out Amtrak's schedules for when I get to Vancouver. Sadly, they have a train that leaves at 6am, and then two mixed service options at 9am and 11am. The 11am would be the most realistic option, but it doesn't arrive until 6pm.

  11. Sitmar back in the 80s served Omaha Steaks beef in the MDR on the regular menu. Those were the days!!!

  12. Thanks so much for all your great information and for keeping us up to date on everything. I have 2 different questions about my Ruby Princess Panama canal cruise for March 2024. First I booked and ocean view cabin and paid the insurance of over $200. Later, I upgraded to a balcony and had to pay another $299 for insurance. That is a lot of money for insurance. Is this normal or was it a mistake? My second question is about the drought in the Panama canal. How far out will they cancel the cruse if the water is too low? Thanks so much for your help and wisdom. Sharon

  13. Hello Allison, I am in the travel industry as well, and as such we take many cruises, with Princess being our preferred line. I just wanted to let you know that I was on the Island Princess just this last April 26 – May 11. My wife and I both agreed that this particular sailing had some of the best food we have ever had on Princess. That said, it was the last 14-day segment of their 111-day World Cruise, so I guess it is possible food is presented different on the World voyages. I am hopeful that it was the normal food service for that ship. If so, I think you will enjoy it very much. We sailed on the Enchanted Princess last September, and the food was very good, but Island was still better. Last November we were on the Discovery Princess, and we were quite disappointed. There was nothing horrible, but in comparison with our previous experiences the food was just good, and the buffet selections were a fraction of what was offered on the Island and Enchanted. I am not including specialty dining in any of these opinions. Specialty dining was excellent on all three ships. I have to admit we are far from being "foodies" and we are pretty easy to please. None the less, we were still able to see the differences, but nothing that I would grade as unsatisfactory. Enjoy your sailing!!

  14. You need to gamble at least two roles I'm a slot machine or they will say something to you I've done it

  15. It could be a cost issue. Prices of food have really gone up. They probably have to cut corners or they have different suppliers as well. I think ok tasting food isnโ€™t bad when itโ€™s on a cruise shipโ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚As always, another informative video!

  16. Currently on island princess and we are able to keep our table, time and waiter for all 16 days.

  17. Exceptional service and food each and every day so far. 7 days to go. Fish, beef or poultry served has been quality each time.

  18. Anytime any corporation says they're giving you a deal. They're lying. Some of us are diabetic. Princess doesn't care about us anymore cuz we can't drink. In fact, we older people who are the ones that 99% supported all the cruise lines during the pandemic…. Princess is giving us the middle finger. We are elite members and for quite some time now we've been trying other cruise lines instead of princess which We would never have done before the pandemic. The good news is there are better options. In fact, much better options than princess out there right now, but I'm not going to share that because people like you destroy everything. You tell everybody every little secret and then it's worthless. I would advise people to do their own research before cruising

  19. We just came off Majestic Princess last May 5. The food is fine but the choices are limited. Weโ€™ve sailed on Princess a few times and noticed the changes. A bit disappointing

  20. FYI~ Brightline (Trains) has a new station in the MCO airport and starting in September they have a line that will run to Ft Lauderdale. The plan initially is to offer Free transport, bus or shuttle, to Port Everglades for passengers. I will be doing this in February, I hope to hear feedback beforehand from this Family of cruisers. ๐Ÿ˜Š

  21. Several Amtrak buses do leave Seattle, but using Quickshuttle from the Convention Center or Greyhound doubles your bus options. Only 2 trains actually cross the border daily, although they are very convenient if the hours work for you.

  22. I have always used this exact method to cash out my OBC in the casino and it has always worked perfectly. However! On our last cruise I was cashing out gradually, not all at once. The next to last night I still had $75 so I went to cash it out and the slot machine displayed the message โ€œNO EFTโ€ (I assumed it stood for electronic funds transfer). I could not use the machine at all. Basically โ€” I got flagged for cashing out.
We used the funds for a specialty restaurant the last night, it was okay and at least I didnโ€™t lose the money altogether.
On our upcoming cruise I will have over $1K in OBC so I sure hope I can cash it out!
I wonder if it would be best to just take it all at once?

  23. 1st of all congratulations on 17000. That's incredible. Secondly perhaps you could let us know if we'd booked the cruise that were on through the casino And we are on board and want to book through you but we have never booked through you. What information exactly do we give them so that you would be our travel agent on record for that cruise.

  24. Allison, this is correct using the casino cage. Just between you & I – these are the only people in 50+ cruises that are never friendly – letting "their" money go to the customer. No smiles, no kindness & certainly no joking. But I get "MY" money!

  25. Just recently came off Carib Princess for the third time (June 2023). One thing we noticed (amongst other changes) was the elimination of the balloon drop during the second formal evening. They still continued with the champagne toast, however, on the first formal night.

  26. I would love it if Princess Cruises would bring back the original love boat dessert.

  27. A note with casino cash outs. Make sure you know when casino closes for the cruise. For example on the Alaska ones RT Seattle, some do not reopen once you stop in Victoria as there is no international waters before Seattle and the ship leaves at midnight.

  28. I really like the dining options on cruise ships, even in the MDR. I've never ordered something that I absolutely hated or thought it was inedible. I'm pretty easy going when it comes to food though, and if someone else is doing the cooking, well I'm great with the food. If for some reason I absolutely disliked the food in the MDR, then I'd go to the buffet or maybe give specialty dining a try to see if that is an option I want. And if specialty dining is the only kind of dining I want, then I need to budget that elevated dining experience into my cruise budget and purchase some onboard credit to cover the cost of specialty dining.

  29. When we went to Australia, the food was ok. Some night better than others. But it seemed like the menus were repeated several times. But any meal I don't have to cook is a good option!
