Carnival Luminosa joined the Carnival fleet in late 2022. She lacks Carnival’s newest FUN Ship features, but does that make her the non-fun ship? In this video, I’ll tell you my top 5 reasons to choose a cruise onboard Carnival Luminosa when cruising from Alaska and Australia.

Carnival Luminosa cruises Alaska and Australia throughout the year, following the summer sun and transiting between both locations and at the end of her respective cruise season.

I hope you enjoy my short Carnival Luminosa review video.

  1. The outside spaces were my favourite too. Was good to see a promenade deck. Great cocktails at the Sunset Bar. Inside layout and colour scheme left a lot to be desired imo.

  2. I found the entertainment schedule quite odd on Luminosa. They seem to bunch all trivia together one after the other (so if you miss the first one, you won't get a seat for the rest) and also they seem to want to do karaoke before 6pm.

  3. We like the Luminosa very much. Agree with you Adrian, on the colour choices which have not dated well, but if you were doing a pro and con of the ship there would definitely be more pros than cons. In a nutshell, she may not be to everyone’s taste, but as an Alaskan cruise ship I think she have more going for her than other cruise lines.
We did an island hopper back in March as a trial run because we had bitten the bullet and booked a return repositioning cruise from Alaska, Japan and SE Asia in Sept., our 7 day hopper we enjoyed very much. We figured if we didn’t, we could always ditch the Sept cruise, in actual fact everything you pointed out about the picture windows and spacious decks up top is a bonus for us. Found out plan wise, she is a sister ship to Cunards Queen Elizabeth. We like her deck plans, she has more pianos onboard than I think I have ever seen in any other ship. Truly looking forward to our trip in Sept. we even booked an extra Alaskan 7 day trip prior to, because we may never pass this way again, and we wanted to experience more than just Ketchikan, Icy Strait Point and the Hubbard Glacier. Thank you for you honest appraisal of the ship.👍😊

  4. We haven’t sailed on Luminosa yet but am booked for October to North Queensland. Looking forward to our first carnival cruise

  5. I was on may 17 sailing
I found the ship was very clean and looks brand new
The staff needs training because the service in dinner was very slow and shows needs help
I would sail on the ship
I enjoy having different style and personality

  6. Thank you for this review. It's one of the 1st ones I have watched that isn't full of negatives things. I am sailing on it next week so was getting a little nervous….

  7. We sailed on the Luminosa May 18th and loved the outside decks for viewing the beauty of Alaska, choosing her for that sailing was a smart choice by Carnival. Also enjoyed our roomy balcony cabin, the piano bar by the MDR.

  8. I haven't been on her yet but I've seen tours and totally love the look of the adults only pool area, it reminds me of an Aztec design it looks fantastic ❤

  9. I am going on Luminosa next August can’t wait and she probably would be smaller than Pacific Explorer too and I am curious to try Carnival out too
