i experienced earthquake in the philippines couple of days before the eruption of mount pinatubo i was at school at the time as i can recall all the students and teachers run and lay down on a open ground one of the teacher shouting dont panic, anyway watchin is one thing but if your actually there and feel the ground is just about to collapes underneath you its a very scary experienced
If you are caught in an earthquake, don't run. You are much more likely to get hurt if you run. Calmly head for the exit, or find the strongest part of the building near you and hunker down.
In a big quake it makes sense to not want to get hit by falling objects but just how effective is it to dive under a desk and get into the Pompeii position? Depending on the situation you might want to get out of the building. Of course do this in the wrong situation and glass and parts of the building might fall on you .
I live in the San Francisco bay area, when I commute I see a lot of apartments complex with parking on the first floor, that are obviously not retrofitted (as they are supposed to, by law), those were the killers in the Loma Prieta earthquake. I saw videos from Japan where office employees are holding their monitor or printer, that's boss ass kissing to the top level, WTF? I know that buildings are not safe here, specially tall buildings in SF.
I live in Canada where earthquakes are few and far between, and even then, they're usually small ones. In the area where I live, especially, they're practically unheard of. I think my grandmother experienced a very mild one when she was a little girl. Otherwise, nothing. Ground's pretty stable over here, luckily! π I can't imagine what it must feel like to be in one, must be scary! π± And to think I'm planning to visit Japan soon… I better brace myself! π΅βπ«ππ
I can't imagine being caught in a serious earthquake. I once felt a very mild one, no damage at all, and it left me thinking "What the heck was that" I read a book about the 1906 quake in San Francisco and it mentioned how the horses in the stables and streets were freaking out well before the earth was shaking.

There's no way I'm ever gonna live in places that had earthquakes, doesn't matter how good the country itself is.
Only one thing fell in that drum shop.
Hard to watch the Christchurch Cathedral collapse as I was there and saw it happen that day.

I'd really hate to be the unfortunate owner of a liquor store when one of these happens π

2:06 it looks like that earthquake is happening in Japan during either sunrise or sunset
3:17 Unlike simulacra, it is a real earthquake. Go immediately under the tables in 1 second πππ That's correct
