I spent a week of January 2023 on the island of Phu Quoc in Vietnam eating the street food, seafood and exploring the hidden beaches. In the video I travel to Starfish Beach, Khem Beach, Ong Lang Beach and Cua Can River. I try the street food at the Bach Dang Night Market and explore the very strange ghost city of Sunset Town.

The South Vietnamese pronounce Phu Wok , but the right pronunciation is Phu Quoc . They also pronounce the V like a Y . For example Con Voi ( an elephant ) they pronounce Con Yoi or Va (and) they say Ya that makes foreigners confused .
These “ Ancient Roman and Venetian towns ` in Phu Quoc ( same as Bana Hills in Danang ) are not designed for western tourists but for Asian visitors who love to get a taste of Europe right in Vietnam . For the westerners I strongly recommend them to check-out Hue , Hoi An , Ninh Binh , Ha Long bay , Ba Vy , Mai Châu , Ban Gioc waterfall , Ha Giang , Sapa , Phong Nha/Ke Bang , Ban Me Thuot , Kontum , Pleiku , Pu Luong , Mu Cang Chai , Chi Ne , Thanh Hoa , Quang Ngai , Binh Dinh , Ha Tinh-Huong Son and Phu Yen . Those last eight sites are hidden gems of VN that not many foreign tourists know of their existence .
Yes do not travel during TẾT BECAUSE Most everything closed and people left town back home … you will feel lonely and nothing to do or see
The Ghosh town is over priced for the Vietnamese to afford that’s why still empty
They are waiting for the chinese and russian tourism to return .
Vietnamese people spend Tet holidays with their families. They won't go on a resort trip, they just go on a spiritual trip.
Phu Quốc is the future. Now it 's still undercontruction.

The new city is inspired by Mediterranean theme and broke ground in 2018, everything is still under construction, according to the developer website of the Địa Trung Hải Phú Quốc, apartments will be handed over to owners in May of this year, as of right now they're still working on the finishing touch . Along with that the shopping mall and the Kiss Bridge also working on the finishing touches. Give it until the end of this year of one year from now when the entire city is completely done .
Another city complex is the Grand World Phu Quoc inspired by Venice theme, a foreigner youtuber also filmed this city near Tet and during noon when most Vietnamese taking nap, and he claimed the place was deserted. Grand World Phu Quoc however is jam packed with people when the sun is down .
Hello. Where do you suggest to stay in the island ? I would like to stay close to the beach with somente convenience stores, bars and restaurants.

phu quoc is over rated.. Not cheap either if you want quality. GREAT weed though. Best in asia, perhaps after Thailand now. Not even sure after what I got :p only reason hard to leave and the looooooving people. Really is something.
