Ah, the captivating realm of boat building, where all the magic happens.  Or so we are learning.  The biggest advantage to being here for the last stage of our boat build is getting to see all the guts, how it all comes together and learning from the pros.  We have been spending A LOT of time with the HH crew and diving into the nitty-gritty details that make these floating marvels worthy of sailing the world’s oceans.

And this week, we take a peek into the heart and soul of boat construction, where every minuscule detail counts and the devil himself hangs out.  From design tolerances to why epoxy is superior, we’re pulling back the curtain on the wizardry that goes into building our HH44 and all these vessels.

Getting unfettered access to the HH factory, the people, and the process has been invaluable.  This is obviously a highly talented crew and every step of the process is carefully thought out.  From the materials they choose to the intricate electrical systems, it’s clear that attention to detail is their secret sauce.  Which gives us a ton of confidence in our boat for when the time comes to set sail.  Because Ricardo is right, something will inevitably fail.  And when it does, we will know exactly where it is and how to get to it.  Fixing it will be another beast all together, but that’s future us problems.  For now, we’re soaking up all the knowledge we can and enjoying this part of the journey.

WE’RE JASON AND NIKKI WYNN. A couple of modern-day documentarians, perpetual travelers, and seekers of tall tales.

We’ve been chasing our curiosity around the world on wheels and keels since 2011. Why? Because curiosity is the key to unlocking life. It pushes us outside our comfort zone, softens our assumptions, and helps us embrace the great unknown. The more we let our curiosity lead the way, the more we discover about ourselves and the world around us.

Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. Self-reliance and living a sustainable lifestyle are a must. It’s all about managing our resources and we’re always looking for new and better ways to do so.

We’ve lived off the grid for over 10 years now in everything from a Van to RV to a Sailboat. And over time we have learned a lot about renewable energy, creating safe drinking water, and managing our waste.

Our journey is ever-evolving but the mission remains the same: #CultivateCuriosity

  1. So will you take the hard in this boat, as some cats etc do , and will you take a scratch ,gel coat repair kit away with you ,lastly will you take a means off hull repair bungs umbrellas or some other way to effect an emergency repair.

  2. What we want to see!?
Where to begin but lets kick of with the powerdrive, shaft, feather prop, hybrid…

  3. If I were 40 years younger and did not suffer from motion sickness, I would LOVE to even sail on this boat. The incredible attention to detail will surely give you a real sense of safety. Look forward to more detailed interviews. ❤

  4. Great tour Nikki! I can totally see the aviation world influence in the technology space. Amazing! Will your new boat have diesel engines too? I can't remember.

  5. You folks should ask for a set of boat plans to keep on your computer, just in case it’s needed at some point.

  6. I feel better about your boat purchase after this video and I didn't even know I was concerned. Great choice and seems like a fantastic company to buy from 🔥🤙🏼

  7. I used to watch you guys, but I think when your channel stopped being about sailing, that's when I stopped watching. Now that your finally having the boat built you talked about for so long I might start watching again. Congratz on finally getting it done.

  8. Is there any faraday cage protection designed in to the boat carbon fibers to reduce lightning damage? Carbon fiber needs help to let lightning be directed to non sensitive areas. Carbon fiber aircraft have a metal mesh to help in conducting lightning strikes and static electricity away.

  9. Does the testing crew get to go out on the water and flip the catamarans? That would be an awesome (fun) job.

  10. can you take us through the interior design process. What did you get to choose custom? What came standard? How involved have you been in the process?

  11. What's the timeline for your HH to splash?
    Are you taking delivery there?
If so, where's the first destination?

  12. I was wandering if you have a narrowing between the two hulls forcing the water out the back faster than the outside water increasing speed?

  13. I would love to know more about the charging and power system in the vessel, including batteries, charger, inverter, solar, etc.

  14. FANTASTIC video – just so interesting and SO exciting .. I’m almost as excited as you guys!!!! I would love to know more about the living space like the saloon, how it will look etc in more detail, and what do the toilets and showers flush into? Is it a holding tank or straight into the big blue? Sorry to be so ignorant …. 😬Is there a grey water recycling system on board?

  15. I’d like to hear about the electric drive and what your plan is for if/when the batteries run dry. Thanks!

  16. It has taken me many months to watch all your videos since you two decided to go sailing. A most enjoyable task I must say and am so looking forward to your further exploits. Thank you.

  17. Hey Nikki and Jason, can you show us a little of the city where you are and the food there. Also on your new boat do you have a backup water maker as your old died so often. Thks.
