Gambir Station (GMR) is a large Class A railway station located in Gambir, Gambir, Central Jakarta, precisely east of the National Monument (Monas), and is connected with road access to Monas. The station, situated at an elevation of +16 meters, falls within Operational Area 1 Jakarta. The station’s location is also adjacent to the west of the National Scout Headquarters building and the Immanuel Gambir Church.
During the Dutch East Indies era, the station was named Weltevreden Station, which later changed to Batavia Koningsplein Station after renovations in the 1930s. In the 1950s, the station’s name was changed again to Gambir Station, and then underwent major renovations to become an elevated station from 1988 to 1992.
Gambir Station serves as the terminus for executive class trains and a small portion of mixed class trains (such as KA Argo Parahyangan and Argo Cheribon) from the Jabodetabek region heading to various destinations in Java.
This video showcases my experience walking around Gambir Station. I hope you enjoy watching this video. Thank you!
