그냥 못만든 영화다.
흑인은 문제가 되지 않는다.
블랙팬서와 겟아웃은 흥행 했었다.
Why would Asians care? She has far far far more European ancestry than the vast majority in those countries. I could understand if Halle Bailey had played Mulan.
Why is spiderman doing good? It's a cartoon I know but if it was racism why didn't that flop?
If you hate a group of people more because one actress belonging to that group was cast in a children's movie…..If you're an adult and you're that upset because that actress doesn't perfectly match your ideal of how a cartoon character should look…if you find people attractive or unattractive based on how light or dark their skin is or solely based on their physical features…you are at least a very shallow, narrow minded, unimaginative, irrational individual and likely someone that struggles to feel empathy for others. You might be a bad person. Just saying..it's petulant and immature to see people in such a limited way or fail to see their humanity because you are terrified of anything unfamiliar
I think the 2023 'little mermaid' would have had a better opening
at the box office if only the Director & Producers created a better
story to introduce and or welcomes another little mermaid that is a huge change from the original 'little mermaid.'
For example, 'Spiderman – Into the Spiderverse' introduced a great storyline that welcomed a new spiderman that was half black & half mexican into 'Spiderman.' Miles Morales could shoot web, electricity, and go invisible! Now that's what I call 'moving spiderman to a superman level' and that's awesome!
Last thing anyone wants to watch is a Dragon Ball movie where Goku is played by Justin Chatwin back in 2009. There's been plenty of past movies where non-white actors are turned down because Directors and Producers prefer a white person to play a white person role. It's just the way it is in it's past movie production days and probably still is now. And now, this is a great way destroy a box office opening for a movie.
Also the new movie 'Fast X' did a good job in introducing Jason Momoa as a new villain.
Looking back to X-Men, a lot of Marvel fans didn't approve of Hugh Jackman to play as Wolverine. I approved of Hugh Jackman playing as Wolverine and I stood with, "give the guy a chance." Time past and Hugh Jackman became the main image to play as Wolverine. All this boils down to how well the Director and Producer of a movie can introduce the character into the movie.
In my opinion, I think the Directors and Producers did a terrible job at introducing a new 'little mermaid' named Ariel (Halle Bailey). Hopefully Disney can learn from this repetitive character movie introduction mistakes from other movies.
What about in some African countries, was this a blockbuster? Why only focus in East & Southeast Asian countries?
And don't say racism, because the movie with the Afro-Latino lead is doing just fine abroad.
Disney is woke.
Well, just recently went to the movies here in the Philippines, and across the spider verse had a line compared to the little mermaid. Both have black leads. Both from disney (technically) So no I don't think we're racist.
SEA ppl: We all know EastAsians are racist especially Koreans. Nothing new! 😂
There is 50 million Chinese across Africa and they are treated better than the local indigenous population
I'm just tired of remakes and sequels. B-O-R-I-N-G.
The Little Mermaid did better than Shang Chi in China because Shang Chi was never release in China
Well halle bailey play really well in the movie and I really love the movie so colour races should not make asians feel bad about it
But what about John boyegas character in China being miniaturised what about the advert with the black man being put in a washing machine and turning white.what about the little mermaid. I've seen many racist memes from Asian people about the little mermaid. The issue is they idolise western society light skin ect and attack others.
No one here is talking about the key. There is some kind of racism in East Asia, but not in this film. Hollywood simply replaced the protagonist of a classic fairy tale with a black girl , and made a big hint before it was released: If you don't buy a ticket, it is racial discrimination.
What's this? Come on, this is the political coercion of the Baizuo (white left), which has nothing to do with whether the film is good or bad. "We don't follow this set", (Wang Yi to Blinken).
Its just Hollywood trying to cause controversy. They want this movie to make it so bad. Controversy brings a lot of attention and Hollywood is so desperate cause they are not making a lot of money. Plain and simple. Suggestion: Afro-Centric and Asian folks just ignore Hollywood's Tactics to cause controversy, division, angst etc etc among people.
The backlash is racist.
Was the original Little Mermaid a success in China and South Korea? If you say no, then the reason the remake flopped there shouldn't be a mystery.
If the original was successful than the question is worth analyzing.
Dude, it's actually nothing related racism or any discrimination. It's just because halle bailey is not good looking and her eyes are wide open. I don't know why nobody point it out. If you see Halle Berry, Rashida Jones, Nathalie Emmanuel, Kerry Washington, Zoe Saldana and Thandie Newton, we love to watch them play any kind of character. No body in Asia has problem with their race or color, because they are attractive 😊. It's just that simple. 🤗
Halle is sooo talented <3
I believe it has nothing to do with race!! The movie was just a failure because people are tired of remakes and flop change!! If you are used to the cast that plays the character, most people don't like change of a character and I am the same so…….!!!!
