The fine fall weather continues in Fukuoka, so today, we’ll walk around Otemon and see some new and old shops and cafes. Then we’ll head into Ohori Park and from there the Ruins of Fukuoka Castle, and if the sky stays clear, we should see a lovely sunset.

FAQ
Who are you?
Nick Szasz, a Canadian who has lived in Japan for about 35 years. Thirty-one years in Fukuoka, three in Tokyo and one in Osaka. I’m the founder and publisher of Fukuoka Now magazine, a monthly printed bilingual magazine about Fukuoka and Kyushu for international residents and visitors from overseas. Fukuoka Now magazine: https://issuu.com/fukuokanow and Fukuoka Now website https://www.fukuoka-now.com/ – I live in Itoshima – and post about that here: http://www.itoshima-now.com/
Why are you doing this?
I love Kyushu, walking, and cameras, so this seemed like a perfect combination and fun. I hope that even in this small way, I can show off and connect Kyushu to the world. Sit back, relax, and let me do the walking and talking.

Kyushu Liveでの計画は?
そろそろ福岡市内を飛び出して九州一円に広げていきたいと思っている。PATREON(ファンがクリエイターを直接支援できるサービス)でも登録しているので応援してね!https://www.patreon.com/kyushulive

So we did catch a fantastic sunset after-all! Unfortunately we had some problem with the sound Emiko's microphone was off and instead we had some wind noise! But the sights we nice and we went by some interesting shops. I pasted in "Chapters" so you can skim ahead easily – go to the YouTube description above. – THANKS!
Another great program. Thanks. Beautiful sunset and great views of the castle. I don't envy you your technical challenges.
I have been there in 2017 a and 2019. Whats the reason they didnt rebuild the castle?
Great sunset. Late September to mid November is the best time for visiting Fukuoka The weather except the odd typhoon is perfect, the fall rainy season is finishing so blue skies and warm weather are guaranteed, except the odd typhoon. Nick! You mentioned the flower and the holiday but failed to connect those 2 big dots. 😵
@jhaneode If you like castles and great views you should visit the Tachibana castle ruins on Tachibanayama. Fantastic views of Hakata Bay. When it was razed the stones were used to build Fukuoka Castle. It is out in Shingu, halfway between Costco and Shingu Station. And if you really love mountain hikes and castles the ruins of Takatori Castle on Fukuchi Mountain is a great day trip!
