Hamamatsuchō Station (浜松町駅, Hamamatsuchō-eki) is a railway station in Hamamatsuchō, Minato, Tokyo, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East) and also by Tokyo Monorail.
Minato (港区, Minato-ku) is a special ward in the Tokyo Metropolis in Japan. It is also called Minato City in English.
It was formed in 1947 as a merger of Akasaka, Azabu and Shiba wards following Tokyo City’s transformation into Tokyo Metropolis. The modern Minato ward exhibits the contrasting Shitamachi and Yamanote geographical and cultural division. The Shinbashi neighborhood in the ward’s northeastern corner is attached to the core of Shitamachi, the original commercial center of Edo-Tokyo. On the other hand, the Azabu and Akasaka areas are typically representative Yamanote districts.
As of 1 July 2015, it had an official population of 243,094,[3] and a population density of 10,850 persons per km2. The total area is 20.37 km2.
Minato hosts many embassies. It is also home to various domestic companies, including Honda, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, MinebeaMitsumi,[citation needed] Mitsubishi Motors Corporation, NEC, Nikon, SoftBank Group,[5] Sony,[6] Fujitsu and Yokohama Rubber Company, as well as the Japanese headquarters of a number of multi-national firms, including Apple[8] and Goldman Sachs.
The Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line (東京メトロ有楽町線, Tōkyō Metoro Yūrakuchō-sen) is a subway line in Japan owned and operated by Tokyo Metro. The line connects Wakōshi Station in Wakō, Saitama and Shin-Kiba Station in Kōtō, Tokyo. On maps, diagrams and signboards, the line is shown using the color “gold”, and its stations are given numbers using the letter “Y”.
The line was named after the Yūrakuchō business district in Chiyoda, Tokyo. The proper name as given in an annual report of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is Line No. 8 Yūrakuchō Line (8号線有楽町線, Hachi-gō-sen Yūrakuchō-sen).[2] According to the Tokyo urban transportation plan, however, it is more complicated. The line number assigned to the section south from Kotake-Mukaihara to Shin-Kiba is Line 8, but that north of Kotake-Mukaihara to Wakōshi is Line 13, which indicates the section is a portion of Fukutoshin Line which shares the same number.
