I see these bread stalls all around Istanbul. This type of bread is called ‘Simit’ and is somewhat of a staple food in Turkiye.

It looks like a pretzel but it’s not salty like a pretzel. The outside is hard, crunchy and crispy, then when you bite into it, you get the soft, chewy middle.

  1. Phillip just say you are from Skochia!!! Scotland that’s how we pronounce in Turkish as ES Kochiaa!!! Try this one next they will understand where you from.

  2. bro why nutella? you gotta eat simit pure and maybe have a turkish tea with it. you also should try mercimek corbasi (lentil soup) with simit. nutella on simit is an insult

  3. That ain’t the traditional way bro, you gotta buy 2, 3 and cream cheese (usually they sell in that cart in the mornings) or white cheese (looks like feta cheese), some green or black olives and black tea in traditional glass (ince belli) and have your breakfast like that. Nutella is just a new-ish trend.

  4. Brother, actually we wouldn't say it's the traditional way. Generally, we prefer it plain with tea or ayran with it. Delicious.

  9. The Nutella isnt traditional. I would suggest you get it by itself and drink a cup of Ayran or Turkish Tea with it. Cheers!

  11. Dude these conversations are kind of funny.

    + You have nutella?
    – Var (I have)

    – Senin memleket Rusya mı? (Are you from Russia?)
    + Me, from Scotland.
    – Nere? (Where?)
    + Scotland.

Like how you both speak different languages like you understand each other's language perfectly 😀

  12. As Essex natives would likely say: "Simit, innit?" 🤌🤭🤣🤷‍♂️🤘

  13. Simit, (in some places its called gevrek) is delicious with tomato, cucumber, alone, some deli meat, or my personal favorite, bal kaymak. Thats a mix of honey and kaymak that created an awesome combination
