Connecting Central Tokyo with the Rinkai Waterfront Area
The Yurikamome opened in 1995 and it’s absolutely fabulous. Take a great train trip in Tokyo, through Shiodome, Takeshiba, Hinode, Fune-no-kagakukan, Daiba, Aomi, Kokusai-tenjijō-seimon, Ariake. Over 160,000 passengers travel daily with those trains ,cross a section of Tokyo Bay via the Rainbow Bridge.
The Yurikamome is Tokyo’s first fully automated transit system, controlled entirely by computers with no drivers on board. The Yurikamome is sometimes mistakenly called a monorail, but the trains run with rubber-tired wheels on elevated concrete track guided by the side walls.
