Japanese Rice Paddy Art – Inakadate Tanbo Art 田んぼアート

Inakadate Rice Paddy Art is a summer long festival showcasing huge scenes made from colored rice stalks. Each year two scenes are created depicting a variety of themes from Japanese history, mythology, and culture as well as themes like Gone with the Wind and Star Wars.

In 2017 they had Momotaro the Peach Boy and the Legend of Yamata no Orochi. In addition, they had rock art depicting a famous Showa Era singer and actor, Yujiro Ishihara and Princess Diana. 2017 was the 30th and 20th anniversary of their deaths.

The music is from Nebuta Matsuri in Aomori City with street performance of tsugaru shamisen.

The art is available to be seen from early June to early October.
