Jason come back, you can blame it all on me
I was wrong and I just can't live without you
Just build a cheaper star wars hotel with more capacity and less immersive theming but more affordable
Always love that Tom and WDWNT give some love to the non US parks especially DLP. Being from the UK DLP is our nearest park, its about a 3 hr drive from the channel tunnel or ferry port where you travel over to France. Even from the North of England we would drive down the day b4 stay in a travel lodge (sort of our version of motels) near the tunnel/port and be in DLP for lunch :). We have found the cast at DLP to be wonderful and very kind when our teenager wanted to practice her french with them. The way the cast members can switch from language to language flawlessly and you will see the flags on their badges with all the different ones they speak, they so deserve some extra for that if nothing else. Seeing characters remain in character and go from child to child and switch from language to language is amazing. Just debating if we can manage a quick October trip to DLP after our main holiday or if we should wait till after the Frozen land opens and go then hmmm…..
Hi, the feast of the “Ascension” you encountered in Europe means the elevation of Christ to heaven. It therefore corresponds to the last meeting of Jesus with his disciples and to the beginning of the Church and of the "mission" of propagation of the Christian faith by the apostles.
Discounts DO APPLY IF YOU HAVE A ANNUAL PASS
People still go to Disney World? Huh, didn't see that coming.
R.I.P. Splash Mountain 🪦
Subbing for yourself haha! Looking forward to News Tonight tonight. As a recent annual passholder, I can't wait for all the perks on my next trip in a couple of weeks.
I love WDW News Today but I still disagree with you on the Galactic Star Cruiser. I'm sure it was a fun experience but it was a Disney Star Wars experience and that is a large part of why people didn't book the trips. There is a large section of Vintage Star Wars fans that just don't care about Disney Star Wars anymore. There is a huge difference between Disney Star Wars fans & George Lucas Star Wars fans. Lucas Star Wars fans would have paid big $ for a Lucas Star Wars experience like this.
The Galactic Starcruiser was not a failure – it closed because no one can afford it – not everyone gets media invites to experience it – seriously – this is ONLY for the deep pocketed person (or someone willing to go into mega debt) and is usually a one shot wonder. While I am sure part of the stay was an awesome experience and even though I can personally afford it – no way would I throw my money away for only a two night stay and a ride in a box truck. It is filling up now because of FOMO.
Welcome Back Tom!!!
200 Euros extra per month to pay employees in Paris is nothing in the grand scheme of Disney pricing and revenue. However, I guess looking at Disney’s horrendous failures, political spotlights with DeSantis and LGBTQ, loss of millions of Disney+ subscribers, Starcruiser failure, Disney stock plummeting and ongoing problems with fighting/indecent exposure in the parks…I guess Disney needs every penny to remain as greedy as they can. Poor Disney has opened a Pandora’s Box of pain for themselves that I often wonder if they can dig out of.
That's a really nice thing to say about the DLP Cast Members
9:18: I agree with Tom 💯! Disney claims that its castmembers are the magic. Well, it's time for them to start practicing what they preach. As Walt Disney said, "it takes people to make that dream a reality". While I haven't had the pleasure of visiting DLP, based on the pictures and videos I've seen on WDWNT's page and others, the castmembers at DLP definitely create the magic for the guests each and every day and deserve a decent living wage. Come on Disney, don't take a page out of former CEO Bob Paycheck's book, "How To Be a Lying Cheapskate". Do the right thing and pay the DLP castmembers what they're worth(which in my opinion should be far more than 200 euros).
"Disney had to close the booking website temporarily because of overwhelming demand"
Yes, but also:
1. Many people just logged on to try to reverse engineer the cost of the dining plan from a mock booking because Disney did not publish the new cost anywhere.
2. There was an issue with the ticket pricing for the 2024 packages where every park day was priced as a single day ticket.
The problem with the Paris strike is that strikes are super common in france and often ignored because they do it so frequently at many companies over there
Starcruiser: It didn’t fail, it needed to evolve! 3 points of change that would have made this a money maker for years: 1. Affordability, 2. Flexibility (not everyone wants to follow a LARP guide for their vacation), and 3. Variety (Mandalorian, Ashoka, Andor, etc. Don’t stick with one storyline)
I’m more upset that Iger and fellow execs chose to scrap it to take a tax break than evolve it!
Happy to see you filling in for yourself!! Missed your reporting!
Each and every one of those striking and interrupting the magic of the park should have the magical experience of being fired and banned from the property permanently. The security that did not react to this issue should also be fired. As a shareholder and a Disney fan (of walt). Don’t destroy the magic. You’re fired.
😯
What is a strike is that good or bad?
Great having back, Tom. Thanks for the update.👍
Im really interested to see what everyone thinks about the value of the dining plan as ive looked at cost of meals and drinks and even having the most expensive item and a cocktail doesnt seem to add up to the same daily cost of the plan. I dont expect to get the food for much cheaper but wondering the benefit of it if the plan costs more than just paying as you go.
Does anyone know what will be closed on Saturday?
DLP cast members are so lovely and it’s a wonderful experience. Thanks for speaking up for them . Star cruiser is too expensive for most people.
I live in Italy so I've been many times at Disneyland Paris and cast members were always great! Disney should paid them the right amount of money instead of trashing money on movies that nobody asked for and that are bombing at the box office one after the other!
This Tom guy is good, but he's no Jason.
It's a failure and no one liked it.
The starcruiser was always destined to fail. It was overpriced and based on the Disney movies instead of the Star Wars movies. There are still Last Jedi toys sitting unsold on store shelves all across the country from 2017! If the toys didnt even sell, what ever possessed Disney to think that people would pay up to $6000 for a glorified LARP experience based around the characters that don't sell?
Will the real Tom please stand up……
Solidarity with the DLP workers! Disney always prides itself in making the most magical theme park experience. That is only possible because of the cast members world wide. Glad to see your outspoken support!
The Galactic Starcruiser is too expensive, and themed after the hated Disney Sequel Trilogy. And yes, we, the fans, HATE the Disney Sequels. We also hate the culturally-desecrating Wokeness of Lucasfilm and Kathleen Kennedy. Bring us Star Wars-themed attractions based on the Original Trilogy.
Disney does indeed believe Castmembers are “Magical”. The magic part is their supposed ability to support their families on wages below poverty-level. Disney has become too expensive and too greedy. And their rubbish treatment of Castmembers is just one symptom of the larger problem. I won’t return to a Disney Park until they fix their Fast Pass system, increase quality, and decrease prices.
Meanwhile, I’ll enjoy watching Disney being punished for it’s WOKENESS.
Come on Disney!! Pay your people appropriately. Without them you have nothing! When will they learn!?
Very cool that you're supporting the French cast members! I have seen a lot of really weird comments from especially Americans that aren't used to see strikes like this, saying that the cast members ruined the magic, which is really ironic since it could've been avoided if Disney actually cared. While strikes aren't normal in theme parks even in Europe, I think Europeans are a lot more affected by strikes so they know how they work and WHY it's so important that they happen.
Being in Europe and more familiar with strikes… First they keep going. On 6th June, they even had to cancel the closing show (most of guest supportive, few were fuming though!). Now – as already highlighted by others – how can a strike take place on private property – i.e. inside the park – without Disney authorisation? Am I the only one thinking Disney is behind the strikes and actually pushing their visibility as much as possible? Is anyone aware of local regulations in France?
Any bad news for diz knee is great news for me. We are crushing their profits by ignoring lousy movies and going elsewhere for vacation. Go woke and go broke. It is simple and it is working. Look at bud light……we are killing the brand. Stay tuned.
