A relaxing walking tour where I explore the abandoned ruins of medieval water mills, with detailed historical information and context. We will walk along the beautiful Tagus River estuary, in Seixal (near Lisbon), Portugal. I also found an abandoned factory where I got spooked by some dogs… Highlights include the Old Tide Mill of the Paulistas and the New Tide Mill of the Paulistas.

In the 15th century, due to its prime location near Lisbon, various dockyards and shipbuilders began constructing river boats and trans-Atlantic ships in Seixal. At the same time, the tides of the Seixal region were used to develop mills, with the first tidal mill being built in 1403.

This walk was filmed in 4K resolution, first-person point of view with captions (no talking), for a more immersive experience!

  6. I was kind of confused what you’re trying to show on this video. Not much to see except the 2 abandoned mill buildings and the abandoned huge warehouse. But still greatly appreciate your effort and perseverance.

Kkkkkk.

  8. An unintentional statement about the futility of glory, human expansion, and industriousness. The ruins covered in dumb graffiti, the piles of garbage, the menacingly barking dogs and the absence of human presence (except one runner briefly seen) saddened me. To me, your firm, military-like steps on the sandy ground signified the inexorable passage of everything to decay and oblivion. These kinds of thoughts are rarely on the minds of younger people. But they speak the truth.
