This rusty old bridge is located along a lonely stretch of highway in the Nippondaira hills near Shizuoka city, Japan. The bridge provides access over the Nippondaira expressway which is a popular road for speeders in cars and motorcycles. The story in this area is that a young girl was killed long ago while crossing the road at this spot before the bridge was built. In his grief the girl’s father spent his family fortune to build this bridge which many believe is now haunted by the ghost of his daughter. Drivers on the Nippondaira expressway sometimes report seeing the specter of a young girl standing atop the bridge as they drive below. The old mountain trail which this bridge was designed to service is now rarely used and as a result few hikers ever have cause to cross over the bridge which today stands alone and unused.

THE PATH OF WILDNESS

The Path of Wildness is easy to find
The course of a stream
Leaves blown in the wind
A beast’s track through the brush
And the direction of our first inclination

The Path of Wildness is an answer and response to a prescribed way of life which may leave some individuals with a sense that their living is little more than a series of pre-determined, step-like episodes between birth and death. The stages of living between these events: childhood, adolescence, adulthood, parenthood and senior are themselves natural and in accord with the needs of the species and most individuals. Many find their satisfaction in living this course and to these individuals I have little or nothing to say. Others though long for something more; something innate, genetic and seemingly calling. Adventure and change can give a degree of satisfaction and relief yet even these may seem too tame. To those who feel drawn to something beyond the entertainment and stimulation of senses I offer a walk along The Path of Wildness. Don’t bother penciling the event in your schedule, preparing a pack with goodies and supplies or even inviting a friend along, for this experience is along the course of your first inclination and you must surely always go alone.

  1. lol, I love how you just calmly answered that. I just imagined both of you saying your comments but in an actual conversation.

Mcrfuse: Woah, dude I just saw like a black ball or something. This place is haunted man :O

    hmmineedanamenow: o_o it's a toad.

  2. I saw that too, maybe its one of those horse flies lol. We'll never know but it would be cool it is was some kind of energy orb going down.

  3. Did anybody else see a grey or black ball roll down the stairs when he first stepped up?

  4. WHOA! what's with that black ball falling down the stairs!?? Obviously he didnt see it at the time…super creepy

  5. Another possible suggestion is kitsune no seishin they are known to be pranksters in legend they are mischievous creatures but some are nice like we are. You might have been visited by a kitsune no seishin if you not to mention if you are near a shinto shrine then you were visited by the fox spirit. There is a pool of water in Japan where neglected items wind up in another space but humans can't visit it. I really wish I was in Japan I think America is a mistake to me I am deeply attached to Japan you should watch Oblivion Island but the japanese is a way lot better and makes more sense apparently the fox spirit is SUPPOSED to look like the movie according to them. We do recognize that the fox spirit's montage is get them all get them all what you neglect we collect so if you hear that it's them just taking peoples scrap I hope I taught you something to research for me if you can go visit Oji Inari Jinja there is a secret pool of water that will send you into there world but you will get lost and stared by the fox spirit.

  6. The bridge has gone! It's been removed. Just checked Google-earth and it's been taken down, no more haunted bridge 😢
