We have been searching for a traditional house to buy in Japan for a few years now, mostly online due to the pandemic. This playlist covers our epic adventure in Japan continuing the search for a house to buy, travelling through many prefectures and inspecting a number of akiya (empty house), machiya (townhouse) and kominka (old folk house) for sale in Japan.
This akiya was listed on the Fukuchiyama City Akiya Bank website for 3M JPY. We thought it was worth a drive-by and we wanted to check out the area. It is about 30 mins drive from Fukuchiyama city in Kyoto Prefecture. Akiya are empty houses that are usually being sold at low prices, many need repairs but are still great value.
