Osaka Castle is located in the heart of Osaka City, offering a tranquil retreat from the every-bustling urban sprawl of Osaka.
The massive castle grounds offer seasonal viewing of cherry blossoms (April), plum blossoms (January-March), peach blossoms (March), and during autumn, the foliage were pretty.
The Castle itself was first built in 1583 and have been destroyed and rebuilt many times. Surrounded by a majestic moat, the Keep Tower has become a famous icon of Osaka.
Easily accessed from several subway stations, the castle grounds are free for public access and the Main Tower charges a nominal entrance fee for viewing of exhibits and a panoramic view of Osaka City.
