After spending some time in Hanoi City, a short excursion to Ha Long Bay would be a nice change from the busy street of Hanoi to a more scenic destination. I got a chance to explore the majestic mountains towering above the emerald green sea of Ha Long Bay on a cruise and got some time to explore the city itself.

The city has amazing attractions and beaches for a perfect way to spend the day and at night, the city comes to life with the freshest seafood and street food you’ll find in Vietnam as it’s right next to to sea… but it does get warm, very warm and very humid…4 showers a day type weather.

And as luck would have it, as the sun has set and trying to escape the heat that still remains in the night, I found a great seafood buffet right by the beach! And not only is it unlimited helpings of the freshest seafood (sometime too fresh as they are just out of the tank), you’ll find made to order stations with meats and seafood grilled to perfection (buttery garlicy grilled oysters and fatty pork) along with made to order traditional Vietnamese dishes (such as always favourite Bánh Xèo).

Premium seafood items such as lobster and abalone can also be included at an additional cost, but with all the live seafood and the table side hot pot, there’s not much else that’s needed except the beer and the courage to cook your live seafood. If you’re a little squirmish on cooking picking and cooking the crustaceans, the friendly servers and hosts will do that for you!

  1. TAKE A SHOT every time Tim say the word “hot” 😂. Vietnam is truly hot and humid but I cannot wait to go back and visit! ❤❤

  2. Can we all appreciate the fact that Tim never disappointed us with his content. 👍👍👍

  3. Oh my… this brings back memories. I visited Vietnam Nam in 2016. We took a cruise down Halong Bay and viewed the caves. Loved it!

  4. I was there in January but was on the cruise for 1 night. That buffet looks yummy. When in doubt, just dip it in the fish sauce and you are good to go 😊😊

  5. Ha Long Bay is so beautiful 😍 When the crab 🦀 was put on your plate it reminds me of grabbing live Lobsters 🦞 at my house to steam.

  6. During the Vietnam War, US troops were warned “don’t eat the food”, well I didn’t listen because I did eat some of the Vietnamese foods. I was in Korea and I did eat there, why not try some Vietnamese foods?

  7. Chả (Steam Pork Roll) should place in between to pieces of Bánh Dày (the white, flat and round glutinous rice cake).
Bánh Xèo and Chả Giò (Egg Roll) were too soft, they didn't sound crunchy to me.
    The "unknown" fruit is Guava.
For dessert, you should add Coconut Milk, instead of Ice Cream.😄

    Thanks for sharing.😋

  8. 19:12 Surprise guest!!! ha ha. I wanna be a star!!! I would have ripped a loud fart and ask him if he got that on camera and when would the video be up.

  9. It looked like a very good buffet. Not having air conditioning in there is a very good way to not have people eat too much. When I am hot, I cannot eat a lot. I don’t know about everybody else but I need to be comfortable if I’m eating, especially at a buffet. I hope you had a pool at where you’re staying or at least a nice cool shower after dinner.

  10. In SF Bay we often eat the Cha Lua (Steamed Pork Roll) dipped in Nuoc Mam, by itself it's somewhat bland and spongy texture, the fish sauce, lime, and chili makes all the difference

  11. Hello thre Tim Lee I’m glad to see enjoy trip Hanoi, Vietnam wow Rocking jamming Vietnamese food trips yummy delicious stay safe Tim thank you stunning video from California ❤🙏🏼🌹

  12. It’s interesting to note that the lobster 🦞 head and tail do not match. The head of the lobster 🦞 is so big but the cheesy part of the lobster tail has too little meat. 🤣😁😆😄

  13. No air conditioning in such a fancy restaurant?? Maybe the Vietnamese people are used to it. Thanks for not showing the crabs going in the hotpot! Enjoy, Melaney from SoCal

  14. My dad and I would go surf fishing at the beaches in Southern California in the 1950's and my dad bought Razor Clams from the bait shop. I don't know of anyone here ever eating them in those days. Brings back nice memories, thanks, Melaney from SoCal

  15. Thanks tim for sharing the food looked scrumptious you do an amazing job exploring new places to eat and I tip my hat to you especially cooking seafood in that hotpot in the broiling heat lol I'm sure the food was good 😅

  16. Great video as always Tim. Making miss the motherland lol glad to see you enjoying yourself

  17. L❤ve this video. Yes, it's very hot 🔥. lots of places has no ac. If they do, it's still on low…lots of fans. Some places has no ac and/or fan. They wear thin clothes, wick proof shirts, tanks, hats, etc. Definitely hats or hand fans help during the day. You will see some people use umbrella 🌂 from the sun 🌞 too.

  18. love vietnamese food, all looks yummy again, i think the last dessert is mde from black glutinous rice with coconut, a popular asian dessert. tfs tim..thailand and vietnam can be very hot during april..take care, drink lots to hydrate.😊
