Moldova – the least visited and one of the poorest countries in Europe. A country most of us know nothing about. But we wanted to travel here and find out what the real Moldova is like, beyond the continuous negative news headlines in the west. So we booked a last minute flight from London to Romania and then crossed the border in to Moldova, where we travelled on to the capital Chisinau, to explore the country and try to learn more about this little known country on the edge of eastern Europe.     Uber driver from Iași (20km to the border) has no idea about where the bus to Moldova leaves from. That reflects the reality where many Romanians may have been to London or Rome on multiple occasions, but never visited their neighboring "brothers".

    Back in the day some of us Soviets ended up in US and among them were a bunch of Moldovan girls that spoke pure Russian. Without any accent at all… And its still the case lol

    I must admit that I did not know much about Moldova before but that has changed, unfortunately because of Russia's war against Ukraine. Knowing more, I hope to visit soon. But most important now is to make sure that they are not left alone to defend themselves shall the gigantic neighbor become an urge to swallow new bits and pieces. There should be a fasttrack for Moldova to EU and Nato. Any issues normally hindering accession can be dealt with later and this cannot take years or decades. To make it painstakingly clear: accession to the Russian Federation can be done within days and you don't even have to apply.

    One of my next destination, after that stupid war is finishing..
    Moldovans, you have very rich country, beautiful …you need to get rid of the crap shifty politicians…
    Same like any eastern European countries..

    Its strange what you said about the population, a friend of mine here in the UK is in a long term relation ship with a Latvian lady ( both don't want to marry ) and he goes to Latvia to visit her family and he said the same thing, he said you either get really young people and old people and everyone in between have moved to other parts of the world, its a shame.

    Just because ukraine and russian are having a war doesn't mean all of Europe is in shambles Europe is a very developed region/continent and one conflict won't effect all of it horribly

    5:40 I never had this problem. 😉 They look into my papers and sometimes someone say "Aaa Poland, ok. Go" I suppose that in Eastern Europe the Polish passport is the strong one.
