Driving a Tesla, Japanese beef and new suits

Even though the title sounds like a men’s night out, I had great fun as well visiting Nagoya, Japan. I live in Tokyo, but my boyfriend lives in Nagoya, the 3rd biggest city in Japan and about 2 hours away from Tokyo by shinkansen (bullet train).

We did a test drive in the Tesla Model X. I had never driven in a Tesla before so I was excited. It’s not a car, it’s a piece of state-of-the-art technology, even the phone can drive the thing. I don’t have a driving license yet so it was tough to see a phone driving better than me.

It was great to see the different models of Tesla up close and how the charging works. The sales guy was great and gave us lots of information on how long it takes for the car to charge and how far a full battery will get you. Depending on whether you are using a normal wall socket or a super charger, charging can take 1 hour per 82 km when charging at home or, at the supercharger, 30 minutes for 274 km.

Since we couldn’t cough up the 11 million yen, we decided to go foodshopping instead. We got ourselves some nice Japanese beef and had Yakiniku at home, which is basically fried meat or a mini barbecue with veggies to your liking… oh, and rice.

Sunday funday in Nagoya, was spent buying a new suit for the boyfriend. It’s relatively cheap to have an order-made suit in Japan so he went for that.

Then the time came to hop on the shinkansen again back to Tokyo, with my noisy cat, annoying all the other travellers. The bullet train takes about 1hour and 40 minutes to get from Nagoya to Tokyo, a distance of about 350 km.
