Hotels are intimidating me man… I hear that august 13-17 is a busy time in Japan, is that true?
I’ll be in Japan from 8th to the 21st.
I was one of the two million tourists in April. It was awesome! Booking train seats in advance was a tad overkill (expect for the start of golden week), but I got exact seats with preferred views.
Only part you really need to plan in advance is: hotels, reservations for areas that are niche or a lot of visitors are expected.
My tips are, don't waste an hour queuing up for optional locations. Check that the hotel rooms are above ~10th floor. Use luggage delivery if possible. You should withdraw 50k or more at an ATM right off the bat.

I am not surprised by the amount of tourist stuff people buy because Japan is like the king of merch especially in Tokyo. I saw Vlog and they had store that only sold red underwear that pretty wild. Actually that not a bad video idea the craziest/weirdest stores in Tokyo. Glad to see Japanese people again.
We just back from two glorious weeks in Japan. Quite a lot of folks not wearing masks…..crowds were huge during Golden Week…trains were packed….looked normal to me. I cannot wait to return.

Still gearing up for my October trip, which I feel is just around the corner at this point. Luckily I and my travel buddy booked our tickets and hotels back in February before the uptick occurred, so we got great prices for both. My only question at this point would be: what happens with Visit Japan Web? Has there been any news on how it changes now that covid measures are relaxed?

On the other side I booked my flights thinking Japan was serious about covid and now this such a joke. I forgot that people can die by using masks.

Just came back from Japan…I met two YouTubers I follow, lol…
This video was spot on we got there on May 8 and had absolutely no problem in the airport!! And the places we visited it seem like the crowds were like they were when I went before covid.

Only advised to report if you have symptoms and temperature check on the go.
Immigration needed 25-30 Minutes like before. Customs is now back at manned counters with paper form or Code. Means many stand in line there and the automatic gates are empty. Used it as fast track. 😉
