– Hiroshima to Aso, Kyushu, Japan
– Heading west out of Hiroshima and getting onto the Sanyo Expressway – Route E2, joining the Chugoku Expressway – route 2A at Yamaguchi, continuing west before turning south, stopping at Dannoura PA then crossing the Kanmon Bridge to Kyushu, joining the Kyushu Expressway – Route E3 before turning southeast onto Route E10 at Kitakyushu, joining Route E34 near Beppu, turning south at Kokonoe onto Route 387, turning onto Route 212 at Miyahara and continuing south to the Aso Caldera, visiting Daikanbō Lookout and heading into Aso-Kuju National Park, driving up Mt Aso to the Aso Naka-dake craters, then heading back down into the town of Aso, staying overnight at an Airbnb in Ichinomiya
JAPAN, 2020:
Four weeks on the road in Japan, just before the pandemic struck in March 2020. Driving a little Nissan March (Micra) and staying in ryokans and Airbnbs.
Circling Japan, this 8,000km roadtrip starts in Tokyo and travels across Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu to the far southern island of Yakushima, then all the way north to Aomori, seeing Hokkaido across the sea, and back down to Tokyo.
