On today’s food adventure, we head out to Tsukishima near the center of Tokyo to try out a favorite Kanto area dish: Monjayaki! Fugetsu is one of many shops lined up along Monja street, easily accessible via the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line at Tsukishima Station.
Once inside, we were greeted by friendly staff who demonstrated how to cook the monjayaki before trying out some of their unique dishes!
On the menu, we chose the Pizza-yaki which was composed of the base of batter mixture, dashi, water, with corn, green onions, shrimp, bacon, and some salami! The flavor was amazing and really tasted like pizza!
We also had the chef’s recommended Godzilla-yaki, which came with bacon, green onions, corn, and a LOT of hot spices. Surprisingly enough, it was just the perfect amount of spiciness and delicious.
Even though Monjayaki may not look appetizing at first glance, it’s definitely much more delicious once you start to dig in!
