Souji-ji is a head temple of the Soto school of Zen Buddhism in Tsurumi-ku, Yokohama. The temple was founded in 740 AD and features architecture by the late Ito Chuta. After looking around the temple grounds, I asked a monk in the temple’s office if he could write in my notebook. He was kind enough to allow me to film his work.
