Every Spring is a special time in Japan because the many, many cherry blossom tress begin to bloom. Lots of people travel to Japan in March and April to see the cherry blossoms (or sakura, as they’re called in Japanese) but our Japan trip just happened to coincide with the 2018 cherry blossom season in Kyoto.

And I’m so glad it did! I was worried that the large number of tourists in Kyoto would take away from the hanami experience – and the trip to Kyoto in general – but it only added to it.

Seeing the cherry blossoms in Japan has been a truly magical experience and I can see why so many people travel to Japan for it. I hope this travel vlog captures some of the magic of cherry blossom in Japan and gives you a taste of what it’s like to take part in the Japanese hanami festival.

And if you’re wondering why it’s a slightly more cinematic video, it’s because I wanted to put my G7X ii to the test! 100% of this cherry blossom video was filmed on the G7X mark ii and I’m pretty happy with how it came out.

If you want to know anything about visiting Japan during cherry blossom season or spending cherry blossom month in Kyoto, just leave a comment below or find me on any of my social media channels (@Alajode) – I’m always going to be happy to talk about Japan, especially the sakura!
