Today I headed to the old town of Bangkok (Phra Nakhon/Banglamphu) to visit the infamous Khaosan Road. Along with my main man @Joe.Parrilla we sampled four Thai street food dishes in one area. I want to help you find authentic Thai street food wherever you are staying in Bangkok by giving you these little DIY food tours in every area of the city.

Bang Lamphu is best known for being home to the infamous backpacker street – Khaosan Road but there is far more to this area than that. If you head around the corner to Phra Ahtit Road there’s dozens of fantastic street food offerings to be had.

My name’s Gary and I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past five plus years and travelling Thailand for over ten. I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this YouTube channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have!

I’ve never understood travelling to a town or city and not eating the local food. How else do you really connect with a place? Let’s get out and explore together and I guarantee you’ll find a whole different side to this wonderful country.

If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!

  1. คนไทยกินข้าวคลุกกะปิ จะใช้วิธีตักส่วนประกอบ อย่างละนิด ผสมแค่กินทีละคำ จะไม่คลุกเคล้าส่วนผสมทั้งหมด

  2. The Roti place is next door to Yolo craft beer bar, run by a friend's friend called Fried.
So I've been here …intoxicated and stuffed my face with Roti. 😋 Loved it!

  3. I’m impressed with your pronunciation of bánh canh. You’re gifted with language.

  4. How can anyone moan about paying 3 quid for a bowl of beef noodles soup😂😂😂 literally just look at the amount of meat there is😂😂 a pot noodle is like 2 quid over here😂😂

  5. I'm visiting Bangkok in November, and these are the places I want to eat at.If I make it there,I'll definitely get a Chang tut tut.Prefer one made from a Leo can if I had the choice.

  6. Wow some great food there Gary and its given us a great dilemma of where to eat in February 😁

  7. All the food looks great but it’s the Khao Kluk Kapi is something I really want to try. (Along with Khao Yum)

  8. i buyed one of this lovely little Tuk Tuk, amazing work !🛺…all soups are looking so good,Thy !

  9. Really loving your new push. Video quality has gotten so much better the last month. As Paddy would say you are taking it to the next level.

  10. Another great one. All your videos bring me back to the Thailand and Bangkok I remember, but this one was special. The street sounds and action, not many farangs, dishes made the way they've been made for generations. Loved it.

  11. The guy making those tuk tuk from cans is a legend. What an artist . Oh, thank you for showing us all the good spots to eat too.👍

  12. Phra Athit Road was the first place I ever stayed, back in 98. It was decent then, as a lot of uni students used to go there to eat; probably still do. Really good vid mate.

  13. Popular in many parts of the world, and especially common as a Thai Muslim snack in Thailand, is mataba (known around the world at murtabak or mutabbaq. It depends which countries u are in.

  14. Mate so funny you saying about the price of the dish! Everyone over here in England and EU are still going on about the cost of living while tapping out their complaints on am iPhone 14 pro max 😂 with food in the cupboards and shoes on their feet they have no idea what being broke is…. They need to travel more and they'll maybe learn to be humble and appreciate things a little more 😂🤓

  15. Thank you for visit our shop Karim roti mataba it's great to meet you 🙏🙏

  16. We’ve stayed a couple of times in Khao San Rd, which is fine (and fun), but the food is a bit meh. Mind you, there are some excellent places on Rambutri and we’ve been to both the roti and Khao yam joints and recommend them both. Need to try the other couple of places on here too. This part of town is great if you’re willing to explore the surrounding streets. Thanks again Gary 👍
