Planning a trip to Japan is not easy! It took us ages to decide on an itinerary and that was difficult enough but we had to decide if we were going to invest in a JR Pass, if we were going to rent a pocket Wi-Fi or buy an SD card, where we were going to stay, where we were going to eat, what we should do, what we shouldn’t do… It’s a lot! And there is so much information out there, it can get really daunting and confusing. So here are all the essential tips you need to know before you go to Japan. We hope our vlogs and this video in particular help you plan a great itinerary for your first trip to Japan and that you don’t make the same mistakes we did!

We’re counting the days until we can go back to Japan. Thanks for watching this series and we hope you enjoyed watching us explore this amazing country ๐Ÿ’™

  1. Wow thank you for this. Planning a trip to Japan when I can find a good flight. What an amazing trip.

  2. A super useful video for anyone planning to travel to Japan! Itโ€™s a shame that JR pass prices will be changing but seems like a useful thing to get โ€“ thanks for pointing that out!

  3. For the jetlag issue, we used an app called Timeshifter. We followed the plan that had us shifting our exposure to light and sleep/wake schedules two days prior to leaving for Japan which is 19 hours ahead of us. We experienced NO jet lag! I was amazed and super happy. On the way home, we skipped the advice and paid for it with almost two days of adjustment when we got home. Next time, we'll follow the Timeshifter advice for both coming and going.
