1. Tiger Hill (8,500 ft) is a mountain located in Darjeeling, in the Indian State of West Bengal. It has a panoramic view of Mount Everest and Mount Kanchenjunga together. At sunrise, the peaks of Kanchenjunga are illuminated before the sun is seen at lower elevations. Golden colour is visible on the peak of Kanchenjunga due to the reflection of sunrays. From Tiger Hill, Mount Everest ,Makalu and Lhotse are just visible. Kanchenjunga looks higher than Mt. Everest, as it is several miles closer than Everest. The distance in a straight line from Tiger Hill to Everest is 172 km.
2. Ghoom Monastery is the popular name of Yiga Choeling Tibetan Monastery. It stands right next door to Sterling Darjeeling, at the quiet end of the Old Monastery Road. It belongs to the Yellow Hat sect, also known as the Gelugpa and houses a 15-foot statue of Maitreya also known as the Future Buddha.
3. Buddha Temple also known as Nipponzan Myohoji Buddhist Temple, is situated adjacent to Peace Pagoda. It is a two storied white building built in a traditional Japanese style. There is picture of the founder Fuji Guruji and a model of Buddha. During daily prayers, people will get a chance to feel divine peace.
4. Peace Pagodas designed to provide a focus for people of all races and creeds to help unite them in their search for world peace. It is located in the town of Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal. Like most of the other Peace Pagodas, it was built under the guidance of Nichidatsu Fujii (1885–1985), a Buddhist monk from Japan and founder of the Nipponzan-Myōhōji Buddhist Order. The foundation stone of the pagoda was laid on 3 November 1972 by Nichidatsu Fujii, and was inaugurated on 1 November 1992.
5. Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (also called the Darjeeling Zoo) is a 67.56-acre zoo in the town of Darjeeling in the Indian state of West Bengal. The zoological park is internationally recognised for its breeding and conservation programmes of endangered animal species of the eastern Himalayas, including the Snow Leopard and the Red Panda.
6. Tea Garden, Darjeeling is famous for producing the best organic teas. It is one of the largest producers of tea and exports large quantities of it. Darjeeling tea is a type of black tea produced in India. Darjeeling tea has a fruity aroma and a golden or bronze color, depending on the way it’s brewed. Tea experts say it has flavors of citrus fruit, flowers, and even a vegetal quality. Darjeeling tastes sweeter and less bitter than other forms of black tea.
7. Tibetan Refugee Self Help Centre in Darjeeling, India, is a rehabilitation center for the Tibetan refugees in the Darjeeling Himalayan hill region. It was established on 2 October 1959, after they followed Dalai Lama and escaped from Tibet. The production of Tibetan handicraft is the center’s main activity. The center was registered as charitable organization under the act of Government of India.
8. Darjeeling railway station is a main railway station in Darjeeling district in the Indian state of West Bengal. The station lies on UNESCO World Heritage Site Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. Darjeeling railway station is located at an altitude of 2,073 m (6,801 ft) above mean sea level. It was allotted the railway code of DJ under the jurisdiction of Katihar railway division. It is famous for JOY RIDE or TOY TRAIN which is a 2hrs round trip from Darjeeling to New Jalpaiguri, covering Ghoom Railway Museum, Gorkha war memorial Darjeeling and Batasia Loop.
9. Gorkha war memorial was constructed by the District Sainik Board, Darjeeling in commemoration of the brave Gorkha Soldiers, who sacrificed their life to protect the sovereignty of the Nation since independence. This memorial was sanctified on 22nd March, 1995. Local people throng here to seel handicrafts and woolen items for tourists.
10. Ghum Railway Museum is located at the Ghum railway station premises. The museum room is right above the Ghum station.
11. Mall Road is a good place to take a walk amid locals and observe their life and styles. The Mall is the town center and also the main hub of social activities. Mall Road is the best place to get glimpses of the local life and delve into the real vibes of the town.
