Kakunodaté-machi is a castle town located in the northern area of Senboku-heiya (plains), Senboku city, Akita prefecture. Breaking the urban area along the Tama-gawa (river) and Hinokinai-gawa (river), surrounded by mountains on three sides, this town is a tourist spot with historic Samurai residences and beautiful cherry trees and has a similar taste of “Little Kyoto of Michinoku”. This main street of Samurai residences has been designated a National Important Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings and is protected as Cultural Properties.
