Shiga is located just east of Kyoto, and is famous for Japan’s largest lake – Lake Biwa, a precious water resource to those living in the Kinki Region including Kyoto. Shiga is a region of abundant nature, where you can enjoy seasonal recreational activities, includes picnics under the cherry blossom trees in spring, boat rides on the lake in summer, viewing colorful foliage in fall, and skiing in winter, enjoy outdoor through a year.
With activities such as touring the Omihachiman lakeside district via rowboat down the canal, the landscape’s unique culture and atmosphere which developed along with Lake Biwa are a selling point of the Shiga prefecture, as well as historical spots also abound, such as Hikone Castle and its popular character “Hikonyan”, the Azuchi castle ruins, and Enryaku-ji Temple on Mount Hiei are the must visit spots. Worth trying local cuisine, such as one of Japan’s top wagyu brand Omi beefs, the Lake Biwa freshwater fish cuisine and traditional Japanese sweets.

Nara being one of the most common daytrips for tourists from Osaka, Kyoto or Kobe, is worth it for people interested in historical Buddhist temples, World Heritage sites and the well-known famous deer of Nara Park. The deer are considered sacred by the locals and are given the freedom to roam, deer are one of the main reasons that people visit Nara. The locals love them, and the tourists adore them; they are pretty much the luckiest deer in the world, and they know it as you try to feed them from your hands, specially made deer foods purchased from shops.
One day is sufficient to see most of the sights within Nara. You can do this itinerary starting and finishing in Kyoto, Osaka or Kobe, but if you would like more relaxing time to wonder around Nara, stay one night in traditional Ryokan.

Mie Prefecture is famous for being the base for Japan’s most sacred Shinto shrines, the Ise Grand Shrine, dedicated to the sun goddess Amaterasu, is widely known as the most significant Shinto shrine in Japan. Toba Aquarium is strongly recommended to visit, easily accessible by Kintetsu train, at Nakanogo Station.
The Nagashima Spa Land is a great idea to visit, this large amusement park is the 18th most visited amusement park in the world. Near here is also a hot spring complex, an outlet mall, and the Nabana no Sato flower park. Ago Bay & Mikimoto Pearls, located on the southeast coast of Mie, is a beautiful bay with 50 tiny islands, known for producing for Mikimoto pearl, where you will be able to watch divers free dive into the bay catching some of the world’s rarest and most quality pearls.
Mie Prefecture filled with picturesque natural scenery and a wonderful place to enjoy sightseeing and food in every season.

Wakayama Prefecture is home to some of Japan’s most sacred sites and beautiful beaches, attracting enlightenment-seeking pilgrims and beach-bound sun worshippers in equal measure. The World Heritage listed Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Route and the temple complex of Koyasan to the sparkling white sands of Shirarahama Beach. All of the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trails lead to the Three Grand Shrines of Kumano in the mountains of southeastern Wakayama.
Wakayama City, capital of Prefecture, it has many popular attractions, including Kuroshio Market, Kamadeva Temple, Wakayama Castle, making it well worth a visit. Try a portion of Kumano Kodo is strongly recommended.
